About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Jane. I am an accredited counsellor with over 20 years’ experience and my approach is primarily Person-Centred.
I know how daunting it can feel when reaching out for support for the first time or to work with someone new. I aim to make that first contact feel as comfortable and straightforward as possible.
I have an empathic, down-to-earth and authentic approach. Clients often tell me I have a calming presence that helps them feel at ease and comfortable to talk openly.
I aim to meet each person where they are, recognising their unique experiences and the different contexts that shape who they are.
I am accredited with BACP and NCPS. My experience includes working in the voluntary sector for Trafford Bereavement Service, my private practice, and I also currently work as a remote counsellor/psychotherapist for a global health insurance provider, supporting clients through EAP services and private medical insurance.
Practice description
Coping with life’s challenges can stretch our resilience. You may be finding that the energy it takes to cope with what you’re going through is draining you, or hearing your inner voice say you ‘should’ be ok when you don’t feel it.
Many clients I work with describe feeling a sense of confusion and internal conflict, torn between their various needs, feelings, and reactions within the situations they face.
This may include relationship difficulties, navigating change, coping with loss, feeling anxious and overwhelmed, or going through a period of uncertainty.
I offer a compassionate, inclusive, and supportive space, free of judgement, pressure, or expectation to be a certain way.
Together we can explore what you’re going through, how things are affecting you, and what you may want and need for yourself moving forward.
Having a space of your own to offload, explore and be supported can make a real difference. It can bring a greater sense of autonomy through understanding and clarity, help to build a deeper sense of self-compassion, and identify strategies to move forward in ways that feel right for you.
My first session
I offer 50 minute online counselling sessions (telephone and video) to individual adults over age 18. I’m based in Manchester, but the online nature of my work means I offer counselling nationwide.
I can provide both short-term and longer-term therapy, depending on your needs.
I offer a free 20-minute initial chat so you can ask any questions and see whether working together feels like the right fit for you. This is often helpful but not a requirement, and if it feels easier to go straight into booking a first session, that’s fine too.
The first session is an opportunity to explore what brings you to counselling and what you hope to gain from therapy.
You can contact me by email, phone or via my website, and I will respond as soon as I can within 48 hours.
