About me and my therapy practice

You may be considering therapy because you feel anxious, overwhelmed or emotionally disconnected. Perhaps your relationships feel as though they are breaking down, you are struggling at work, or you would like to process experiences from your past. You may want to develop greater self-confidence and self-esteem, or learn how to manage stress and intense emotions.

Sometimes, you may already understand your difficulties intellectually but still feel unsure about how to change the patterns that keep affecting you.

My work focuses on you as an individual and on the therapeutic relationship we create together. I see therapy as collaborative: we work as a team to understand what you are experiencing and identify what may help. I am open and transparent in the way I work. When it is useful, I explain what we are doing, the ideas and theories informing our work, and why I believe a particular approach may be helpful.

Our sessions may involve exploring anxiety, stress, emotional regulation, relationship difficulties, challenges within the workplace or ways of responding to difficult and intense situations. We may also look more deeply at your past, your recurring patterns and how earlier experiences continue to influence your present life.

I aim to offer a warm, genuine and non-judgemental space where you feel listened to, understood and actively involved in your therapy.

Practice description

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, emotional overwhelm, low mood, self-doubt or difficulties in your relationships. You may feel stuck in repetitive patterns, affected by earlier experiences, or uncertain about who you are and what you want from your life.

You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation of what is wrong. We can begin with what feels most important or difficult for you and develop an understanding together.

Our sessions will offer time to slow down and pay attention to your thoughts, emotions, bodily experiences and ways of relating to yourself and others. We may explore how past experiences continue to influence the present, while also considering what could help you feel safer, more resilient and more able to make choices that reflect your needs and values.

I believe therapy is most helpful when you feel genuinely heard and able to be yourself. I will meet you with curiosity, care and honesty, respecting your experiences and the knowledge you already hold about your own life. Together, we can explore your difficulties from new perspectives and consider what meaningful change might look like for you.

The pace and focus of therapy will be shaped collaboratively. Some clients seek shorter-term support around a particular difficulty, while others value longer-term work that allows for deeper exploration.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin exploring what has brought you to therapy. You can tell me as much or as little as feels manageable. There is no expectation that you disclose everything immediately or present your experiences in a perfectly organised way.

I may ask some questions about your current difficulties, important experiences, relationships and what you would like to gain from therapy. We can also discuss whether you are looking for focused, shorter-term support or more open-ended therapeutic work.

You are welcome to ask questions about how I work, confidentiality, practical arrangements or anything else that may help you decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.

Finding the right therapist matters. The first session gives both of us an opportunity to consider whether my approach feels suitable for you. If we decide to continue, we will usually agree on a regular weekly appointment and review our work together as therapy progresses.
