Availability
I do have some availability for February but spaces may be limited.
Sessions last one hour and cost £60, payable 24 hours in advance. I work Tuesday to Friday, with appointments available from 9:30am to 5:30pm. I do not offer weekend appointments. I try as much as possible to work with your own diary commitments so please discuss this with me so we can both find a way forward for the sessions to happen, and begin the positive changes in your life.
About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced integrative counsellor offering a safe, supportive space for clients to explore a wide range of emotional and mental health concerns. With a strong background in trauma-informed work, I aim to help clients feel heard, understood and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.
I have over ten years’ experience working as a counsellor with Women’s Aid, where I supported women affected by domestic violence (both physical and emotional abuse) and childhood sexual abuse. I now work in private practice and welcome clients of all genders.
Alongside my clinical work, I am passionate about promoting mental health in the workplace. I deliver workshops and webinars covering a wide range of mental health topics, and I also provide specialist training for other counsellors in areas such as domestic abuse and the menopause.
I have a strong interest in the mind–body connection and how thoughts, feelings and emotions can impact physical health and overall wellbeing. In our first session, I offer a short consultation where we can explore what has brought you to counselling and agree clear goals for our work together.
I trained originally as an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches and tailor sessions to suit each client’s individual needs, helping to achieve the best possible outcomes.
I offer face-to-face counselling from a private therapy room at the rear of my home. The space is completely confidential and has been designed to provide a calm and comfortable environment. Fresh filtered water is always available.
If attending in person is not possible or preferred, I also offer sessions online via Zoom or Teams, or by telephone. Some clients find they feel more comfortable accessing counselling from their own home, and online sessions can provide a flexible and effective alternative when face-to-face appointments are not suitable.
Practice description
I offer a warm, compassionate space where you can talk openly and at your own pace. I work alongside clients to help them feel safe, supported and understood, particularly when navigating difficult life experiences, emotional distress or past trauma.
My training was based on the 'integrative' model, which basically means I cover a wide range of different counselling styles. I endeavour to tailor my work to meet the client's needs . Often clients have a certain impression of what counselling will be like and I hope to dispel some of the common beliefs that may exist.
As an integrative counsellor I now specialise in trauma-informed work, with extensive experience supporting those affected by abuse, trauma and complex emotional difficulties. My approach prioritises safety, choice and empowerment, helping clients regain a sense of control and wellbeing.
My goal is to provide a warm, non judgemental environment where the client will feel comfortable and at ease to talk. I love to share any supporting information with clients, to enable them to maximise the benefits of the sessions, to help them with their own personal development.
Choosing the right counsellor is vital, and therefore I always encourage my clients to come along for an initial consultation and session, and then decide if it's right for them. It is important for a good therapeutic connection between client and counsellor.
If you are ready, then the door to beginning counselling will open for you It's taking the first step.
My first session
Clients can expect a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where they are listened to with care and respect. Sessions are collaborative and paced to suit your individual needs, allowing you to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences in a way that feels manageable and supportive.
At the first session, we will spend some time understanding what has brought you to counselling and identifying the goals you would like to work towards. Together, we will review and adapt these goals as therapy progresses.
As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach to each client, drawing on different therapeutic methods to support emotional wellbeing, personal insight and positive change. Where helpful, we may explore the connection between mind and body, recognising how emotional experiences can impact physical health.
We will complete a short assessment form, and I will ask a few questions about what brought you to counselling, your medical history and any traumas you may have experienced. There will be a client agreement to sign, by both of us, acknowledging the terms and conditions of our sessions and how we can move forward with clear boundaries together. All notes and forms are stored securely on the Kiku platform, and will be fully password protected.
My aim is to help clients build greater self-understanding, resilience and coping strategies, empowering them to make meaningful changes and move forward with increased confidence and wellbeing.
The first session can feel like a huge step to take, and I am here to help you overcome any barriers, fears or concerns you may have to help you unlock your true potential and live the life you truly deserve.
