About me and my therapy practice
'Talking therapies' can help us to work through grief, anger, guilt and frustration. I offer unconditional support and confidentiality, allowing you to untangle your thoughts. It can be such a relief to share the feelings you usually have to hide.
I am a qualified, experienced and insured psychotherapist working in private practice. I am 60, and I have been through my share of life's ups and downs. I am available to offer you not only support, but help to think things through.
I welcome the opportunity to work with autistic and ADHD people, and welcome LGBTQ+ clients.
Working online has turned out to be a great option for a lot of people - it's very flexible, and there's no travelling involved, which is good for the planet! But we can also use a cosy private counselling office at Creative Calm which is easy to find on Bury New Road in Prestwich. I also offer telephone-based therapy because I know that some people find online meetings stressful - there's more about this on my website.
Practice description
I like to build a relationship with my clients. A good therapist can offer a relationship unlike any other - you can speak completely honestly and openly about whatever is on your mind, knowing that I will always be working to support you - but I'll also ask you questions and challenge your thinking from time to time. Talking about feelings can be hard work, and emotional, but often there is a lot of laughter too, and a sense of release when you confront things that have been troubling you.

About me and my therapy practice
I originally trained in Transactional Analysis and I have had a successful private practice for the past ten years. Being a therapist, for me, offers to opportunity for continual learning and over the years my work has developed in the directions of narrative therapy, person-centred therapy, existential therapy and Imago couples therapy. I offer supportive, deeply relational supervision that enables you to speak your mind and explore any self-doubt or challenges in a safe space. Autistic and ADHD therapists and trainees welcome.

About me and my therapy practice
I trained and qualified as a Supervisor in 2020. My trainer was Bob Cooke, who is highly respected in Manchester and has run the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy for many years. Bob's training is closely allied to the approach taken by Hawkins and Shohet in their book, Supervision in the Helping Professions. I like Robin Shohet's observation that supervision is about taking the fear out of the work that we do. My approach to supervision is empowering and supportive. I offer regular supervision contracts for both qualified therapists and students undertaking placement work.
Practice description
I have a broad and relational approach to supervision. I am especially interested in using reflective writing with people who work in the caring professions and I have recently been able to develop some ideas by working with third year medical students. Supervision with me could include reflective writing between or preparatory to each session as a basis for our conversations - but there is no obligation if writing doesn't appeal to you. I charge £80 for each 90-minute session and this covers any extra time spent reading written work.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute Zoom appointment so that we can see if we think we are a good fit! I have a standard intake form for you to complete before our first 'proper' supervision session.
