About me and my therapy practice
Welcome. My name is Lindsey, and I am experienced in providing committed, client-centred therapeutic relationships grounded in compassion, respect, and honesty.
If you choose to work with me, I aim to be fully present, authentic and empathetically responsive to you, which can help you become more holistically aware of yourself — including your feelings, emotions, thoughts, and physiological responses.
As someone who is culturally conscious and trained in psychological trauma, I value the impact of your environment on you, including what is happening in your present and what has been influential in your past.
I am also attentive to the many ways in which adversity, marginalisation, societal norms, abuses of power, and other factors can manifest and cause disruption. However, I am also aware that adversity can sometimes serve as a fertiliser for growth.
Serving
Individual, couples, group, and family therapy, plus clinical supervision. I am registered with AXA, Bupa, WPA, Aviva, and Allianz, accommodating those using insurance.
About Me
For background, I am BACP accredited, holding a BA (Hons) 1st in Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy, and I am also a qualified teacher (DipHE), which supports my roles as trainer and supervisor. I am also nearing completion of a PGCert in Psychological Trauma.
I have 10 years of experience working with individuals and couples. My ongoing learning has been diverse, including Meditation, EMDR, Ecotherapy, Polyvagal Yoga, and 7 years of teaching Counselling level 2 -5. I work for culturally competent practice, including Gender, Sexual, and Relationship diversity. I am mixed British-Egyptian. I'm ecologically minded and am an advocate for a fair and ethical society.
Practice description
You may arrive at therapy for various reasons, including anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, emotional numbness, avoidance, limiting habits, coping mechanism fatigue, recurring conflicts, disconnection, self-sabotage, & other effects of acute stress, adaptations and trauma.
Synopsis
My work is respectful, empathic, & honest facilitation. I work to hear you in all that you communicate—connecting mind and body—present and past. Any process of change is rarely smooth or pain-free; however, it may lead to a more embodied self-understanding and acceptance.
There are no promises, however, with greater conscious awareness, you may work towards naturally breaking down old structures and stepping into a more authentic, honest, less-tamed you.
What I offer to individuals
Alongside face-to-face, in-room sessions, I offer outdoor, walk-and-talk sessions along the wooded paths leading to the shoreline. If you have limited mobility, we can meet at a mutually agreed-upon outdoor location. I also facilitate creative expression through art and sand tray.
Please let me know if any adjustments on Zoom or in the room are required; I am happy to accommodate.

My first session
The Initial Session
I offer an initial session for individuals, either in person (£30) or by phone or video link, free of charge. For couples, the initial session costs £35.
If you intend to meet face-to-face, it can be helpful to meet in person for our initial, as it allows you to get familiar with our therapy space. This is a bright yet cosy room located on the first floor of Hamble Memorial Hall. The building offers a lift, parking, and toilets. If you need any adjustments, please let me know. Unfortunately, the room is currently not accessible for wheelchair users due to fire regulations. I also have living plants.
Regardless of where we meet, the initial session is your opportunity to determine if therapy with me suits your needs. If we decide to proceed, we will work together to find a mutually agreeable time and day for our sessions, ideally meeting regularly.
Initial/Assessment Session Costs
- Face-to-Face (Initial) - £25-£30 (30 minutes)
- Walk & Talk (Initial) - £25-£30 (30 minutes) in the room
- Couples (Initial) - £35 (60 minutes)
- Zoom or Phone Call (Initial) - Free (30 minutes)
Planning
There is no standard number of sessions; however, if you prefer brief, time-limited sessions, it's ideal that the issues you present align with a realistic time frame. There may be ethical implications if the exploration of particular topics becomes too extensive. We may also need to reassess if we uncover something significant that might challenge your current coping mechanisms.
When It’s Not Wise to Continue
If we have someone in common or if you are experiencing a situation that could be harmful to explore at this time, it may not be wise to continue. If there is violence towards the partner you are seeking counselling with. Or if what you need is medical assistance. Additionally, if I feel my understanding is limited, it may be more beneficial to refer you to another organisation or a colleague.
