About me and my therapy practice

We start with an assessment, where I meet with you as a couple to understand your relationship, the difficulties you're facing, and what you hope to achieve through counselling.

This helps us identify recurring patterns, clarify goals, and create a shared understanding of what needs attention. From there, we can begin working towards improved communication, greater understanding, and a stronger emotional connection.

After the assessment stage, most couples benefit from around 6 to 10 sessions of focused therapeutic work. This provides an opportunity to explore relationship patterns in greater depth, develop new ways of communicating, and work towards meaningful change within the relationship.

Where appropriate, our work may also include an individual session for each partner. This can provide space to explore personal experiences, concerns, and relationship history, helping to inform and strengthen the couple’s work.

As part of the counselling process, I may provide work sheets and practical exercises to work with between sessions. These are designed to help you recognise healthy and unhelpful relationship patterns, understand common communication difficulties, explore how you and your partner give and receive love, and find ways to address resentment and strengthen emotional connection.

Many couples find that reflecting on these ideas between sessions helps bring the counselling work into everyday life and supports meaningful change within the relationship.

I am also mindful that couples leave a session together and continue their day, often carrying strong emotions or difficult conversations with them. For this reason, I build time into each session to slow things down, reflect on what has been discussed, and consider what each of you is taking away from the session. This helps create a sense of closure and allows you to leave with greater understanding, rather than feeling overwhelmed or emotionally exposed.

Practice description

When communication breaks down, resentments begin to build. Over time, this can create an unhealthy dynamic between you both. We are then left making assumptions about our partner, and those assumptions are often incorrect.

Whether you're feeling disconnected from one another, struggling to communicate, trying to rebuild trust, or wondering whether your relationship still a future has, counselling can help you better understand what's happening between you, strengthen communication, and explore the possibilities for moving forward together.

In addition to supporting couples with communication difficulties, conflict, intimacy issues, and the impact of affairs, I also have experience working with relationships affected by ADHD, addictions, mental health difficulties, and sexual concerns. These challenges can place significant strain on a partnership, often leading to misunderstandings, resentment, disconnection, and a breakdown in trust. I provide a supportive, non-judgemental space where we can explore these issues together, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourselves, improve communication, and strengthen your relationship.

My first session

In your first session, we will begin to explore what has brought you to therapy and what you would like support with.

Whether you are coming for individual or couples counselling, we will take time to understand what is happening for you, the difficulties you are facing, and what you would like to be different. This may include exploring relationship patterns, past experiences, current challenges, or the ways you have learned to cope.

There is no expectation to go into anything too deep too quickly. We will work together at a pace that feels safe, helping you build understanding, confidence, and lasting change.

I offer individual and couples counselling for relationship difficulties, and also work with trauma, addiction, and codependency. This includes emotionally abusive or narcissistic dynamics, ADHD-related challenges, and support with developing healthy boundaries.

I’m a BACP-registered therapist and provide a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where we can slow things down and make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. My approach is relational and trauma-informed, with a strong emphasis on safety, trust, and collaboration.

Couples often come to counselling when communication has broken down, resentments have built up, or conflict feels repetitive and hard to move beyond. In our sessions, I help guide conversations so they don’t escalate or become stuck, while ensuring both partners feel heard and respected. Together, we explore repeating patterns and focus on practical ways to improve communication and interrupt unhelpful cycles.

I also offer individual counselling for people struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, and codependent patterns. This may include people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling drawn into emotionally draining relationships. We’ll gently explore how past experiences are shaping present difficulties, working at a pace that feels safe and supportive, and helping you build greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and healthier ways of relating.
