About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified clinical supervisor, counsellor, psychotherapist and accredited member of both the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and the NCFED (National Centre for Eating Disorders).

I describe myself as an integrative therapist, combing both my core "Person Centred" or "Humanistic" model with "CBT" approaches (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I also draw on other approaches such as Transactional Analysis and Mindfullness.

Some of the areas I work with include: anxiety, depression, alcohol and drug problems, eating disorders, weight loss coaching, anger management, stress, low self esteem, relationship counselling, historical family and childhood issues, grief, gambling problems.

All appointments are treated in strict confidence.

Along side my private practice I have provided counselling and clinical supervision for both statutory and non statutory services including NHS staff wellbeing, Social Services, The Police staff wellbeing service, various Employee Assistance Programmes, Ambulance service, trainee and qualified counsellors, educational institutions and various voluntary sector agencies.

Practice description

I strive to promote the core conditions of Person Centred Therapy in all my work, these being unconditional positive regard, congruence and empathy, and will endevour to provide a safe, non judgmental and confidential space in which to explore whatever you bring to therapy.

Whatever the problem, whether a past, present or possible future issue, taking the time for ourselves to explore and reflect on the problem can enable us to identify our options and choices, empowering us to move on with our lives.

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss what you wish to bring to therapy and ascertain whether you feel comfortable with my approach and whether I feel I may help you. If preferred you may opt for an initial 1 hour in person appointment with my normal fee applied.

The initial session will not be a formal assessment process with forms to fill in. I will just need some basic details such as address, medication etc.
