About me and my therapy practice

I work with people from all walks of life and bring natural warmth and curiosity to my clients. I am dual - qualified as an adult psychotherapist (Regent's College, School of Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology) and as a child and adolescent psychotherapist (Tavistock Centre).

I work with people across the lifespan - children, adolescents and adults - offering short and longer term therapy depending on your individual needs. I help young people and adults who are having problems with their relationships, with friends and family, with study or working life, depression, anxiety, issues related to self-esteem, identity and sexuality and those experiencing the aftermath of neglect, abuse or trauma. Parents come to me when they experience emotional and behavioural difficulties with their child or their child has unexplained physical symptoms.

I also offer support to parents and carers who are struggling with difficulties in their relationships with their child or adolescent.

I have worked in private practice in London for 10 years. I've been employed in several NHS adult psychotherapy departments, in primary care and in charitable organisations. I worked as part of a complex needs Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), covering four London boroughs and continue to work as part of a specialist multidisciplinary CAMHS team in London.

I am currently undertaking doctoral research into gender related issues in child and adolescent psychotherapy.

I have been a mindfulness practitioner for over 10 years and have explored embodiment in a variety of ways. My work is informed by an awareness of what our bodies tell us about our experience.

Prior to my professional training I studied music.

Practice description

Psychoanalytic work has a long history of addressing relational difficulties in careful detail, and is my usual approach.

I offer a safe and confidential space where you can explore what is troubling you without fear of criticism or judgment. Central to my work is you as an individual, your own experience and the ways in which you understand what's been happening.

In a collaborative process, looking together at your challenges and what underlies them can help to open up possibility, create resilience and bring lasting change.

I am interested in how the experiences of our childhood and our families influence our development and later lives. We may repeat early patterns of relating, and of protecting ourselves, even when they are no longer helpful and may even unknowingly maintain our current problems. Through understanding these patterns and how they’re limiting us, it’s possible to begin making choices that can help us lead a more fulfilling life.

My first session

Initially I offer a consultation process which will help us to think about your needs and interests and whether my approach can be helpful for you. If you are interested in working with me, or have any queries, please feel free to contact me via email or phone. If I'm not available right away, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
