About me and my therapy practice
I am an Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and a qualified EMDR Therapist (registered with EMDRUK). I offer CBT and EMDR therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, stress, and life transitions.
As a neurodivergent therapist myself, I understand that traditional approaches do not always fit neurodivergent ways of thinking, feeling, and experiencing the world. I am deeply committed to providing a therapeutic space that is inclusive, affirming, and respectful of each person's unique experiences and needs.
Whether you are autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, exploring a diagnosis, or identify with any form of neurodivergence, my practice is designed to support you in a way that feels accessible, collaborative, and authentic. You do not need to mask who you are here.
My approach combines evidence-based CBT and EMDR with a strong belief that neurodivergence is not something to be fixed. Instead, therapy focuses on understanding your experiences, reducing distress, building on your strengths, and helping you create a life that feels meaningful and sustainable for you.
I recognise that difficulties with focus, organisation, time management, emotional regulation, sensory overwhelm, or completing tasks between sessions can be common experiences for many neurodivergent people.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that can be particularly effective for trauma, distressing life experiences, anxiety, and memories that continue to feel emotionally charged or "stuck."
Above all, I strive to provide a warm, compassionate, and collaborative therapeutic relationship where you feel safe enough to show up exactly as you are. Together, we can make sense of the difficulties you are facing, develop practical ways forward, and create meaningful and lasting change.
Practice description
The counselling process offers a safe and comfortable environment where you are able to explore the difficulties that are causing confusion or distress and assist with seeking a greater balance in life. It is impossible for any of us to escape life's challenges and the negative impact they can have on us, it's what we do about it that matters! Change is possible and with the right attitude and support you can overcome any difficulties.
I also offer a 'walk and talk' style therapy which can be great for the clients who may struggle to sit still and attempt to focus, these sessions will be conducted in the outdoors, usually in and around the local nature reserve. There is no level of fitness required for this and the pace is set by you the client. These sessions are available once the therapeutic alliance has been established and are completely optional and at no extra cost.
It is imperative to me that my clients feel valued and respected during our professional relationship. I believe the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is fundamental therefore I offer a free 20 min introductory telephone session to allow a connection to be made (or not) at no cost to the client.
My first session
Your first session is a gentle starting point — there’s no pressure to say or do anything you're not comfortable with. It's a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to share (as much or as little as you like) about what’s bringing you to therapy.
We’ll explore:
What you'd like support with
Any goals, challenges, or questions you have
What has or hasn’t worked for you in the past
What feels safe, helpful, or unhelpful in a therapy space
Confidentiality and contracting
This session is also an opportunity for us to begin tailoring the therapy to suit your unique needs — including any communication preferences, sensory considerations, or adaptations that might help you feel more at ease. You’re welcome to take notes, bring a support person, use visual aids, stim, or ask for breaks — this is your space.
