About me and my therapy practice
Is anxiety a result of your negative thoughts and feelings?
Is your low or sad mood the result of a set of life events which you are finding hard to cope with?
If your anxiety is due to repressing an old wound, I can help you to face your fear in a safe space where you will not be judged.
In times of emotional challenge you may engage with unhelpful, repetitive habits, causing you to feel anxious or experience low mood. We will explore any unhelpful coping strategies and focus on what lies at the root of your feelings and behaviours.
Humans love clarity and certainty, but life can sometimes be chaotic and unpredictable. Whilst black and white thinking sounds beautifully simplistic, it is often the chaos, complexity and grey that brings the beauty, peace and understanding. Whilst the process can feel challenging, we will work through this together.
My practice is built on empathy, non-judgement and validation. I want you to feel heard and validated in a safe space. Clients have shared feeling so much lighter after offloading difficult thoughts and feelings, wishing they had engaged with counselling sooner.
Perhaps you are avoiding vulnerable feelings, believing them to be a sign of weakness. To the contrary, healthier, deeper connections are formed when we are open and vulnerable with others. Allowing vulnerability into your life also opens the door to compassion and self-care.
As you connect more authentically with your yourself, you will notice how your worldview becomes emotionally easier to navigate.
My aim is to support you in building a healthy therapeutic relationship, that you can then mirror in your day to day life.
Practice description
My work mainly focuses on anxiety and depression, symptomatic of life changing events such a grief and loss, abuse relationship issues and many more. Are you noticing low self-esteem, symptoms of stress and avoidance of human connection? Such symptoms can be triggering and seeking support and talking therapy really helps.
I work with particular theories that benefit my clients and practice. The following ways of working for me support my practice and include the following:
A) Person-centred therapy which is built on empathy and genuineness and no judgement.
B) Psychodynamic theory:
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on unconscious processes which show up in our present behavior. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are client self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present behaviour.
i.Attachment therapy describes how a child's early bond with their primary caregiver — especially consistent availability — shapes their ability to rely on others; if a caregiver is frequently unavailable, the child may learn to meet their own needs and avoid asking for help.
ii. Transactional Analysis focuses on our learned styles of behaviour, helping us understand how we can in times of anxiety and distress revert to our child or parent state. We really benefit from noticing and being curious about our behaviours when we shift out of our adult state.
The theories I work with support my clients in creating a stronger, more confident sense of self. Incorporating a client's values and beliefs also make it easier to connect with our authentic selves.

My first session
If you connect with my website or would perhaps like to find out more, please book a free telephone conversation to ask any questions and establish what you can expect from working with me.
The next step is an initial one hour assessment providing you with a confidential, safe space for you to share a little more deeply what brings you to counselling now. This session will enable you to engage and experience a therapeutic relationship. By doing so, you will hopefully experience, empathy, understanding and no judgement.
I want you leave our sessions, knowing that you are on a journey to connect with your authenticity; to feel a true sense of self. Whilst this process can be emotionally challenging, it will definitely increase your resilience.
