About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to Jenny Blain Counselling,

I qualified as a counsellor in 2016 and set up my private counselling practise in 2017. The aim was to offer counselling for a range of issues but also to provide a more specialised service for young people and individuals with autism and adhd. Over the years, I have gained experience working in educational settings at Colleges and secondary school  provisions for young people with SEND.

The practise now also offers clinical supervision and couples counselling and is based at the Lombard house in central Canterbury. Individual, couples and supervision sessions take place face to face but also online, with clients and supervisees from all over the UK.

I’m a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and clinical supervisor who is a registered member of the BACP as well as the NCPS and I abide by their ethical frameworks.

Before becoming a counsellor I worked in teaching and recruitment. I am originally from Sweden but I have lived all my adult life abroad. First in France, then Switzerland and now in the United Kingdom. I’m trilingual and can offer counselling in English, French & Swedish.

Practice description

My core counselling training was humanistic with a focus on person centred counselling. Over the years I have developed a more integrative way of working where the main goal is to tailor my approach to suit my clients and their issues, individual needs and preferences.

My first session

I aim to be a warm, approachable and caring counsellor. I understand that it can be daunting to seek counselling and that the process of finding a counsellor and coming for a first session can be challenging. It is normal to feel apprehensive or nervous and to have a lot of questions. Maybe you are not sure of counselling in for you? It is common to worry that your problems aren’t serious enough to seek professional help. If this sounds like you then perhaps booking a free 15 min introductory call would be helpful.

If you’d like to book a session you can get in touch by sending me an email, or by calling and leaving a message. I will endeavour to get back to you within 48 hrs.

During the first session we will discuss your reasons for seeking counselling, your expectations and I will answer any questions you may have. This is an opportunity for me to explain how I work and for both of us to see if I’m the right counsellor for you. There is no pressure at this point to sign up for a number of sessions. You can book in for the following week or go home and think about it.
