About me and my therapy practice

Beth Harwood-Mann (She/Her)

BACP Registered and Accredited Psychotherapist & ACTO qualified Online Counsellor

I am a relation-centered psychotherapist with a private practice based in Leyburn, North Yorkshire. My services include one to one therapy both in-person and online, couples therapy, therapeutic group workshops and organisational workshops for schools, colleges and the business environment.

I hold the highest qualification for online therapy and can offer a full range of therapeutic options that include video conferencing via Zoom, audio, email and live chat.

I also work creatively at times using sand tray, metaphors and dreams, to help you connect to your issues in a visual way.

Practice description

I practice as an Existentially oriented therapist because my intention is to understand and bring clarity to your lived experience. We will work with what is real, accept imperfection, pain and difficulty, alongside your need to get on with your life in a meaningful way. This non-prescriptive approach suits those suffering from: chronic unhappiness, the impact of relational trauma, difficulties with emotional regulation, depression, anxiety, debilitating fear, cross-cultural issues, gender identity, sexuality, relationship struggles, grief and loss.

I subscribe to the belief that most human struggles are rooted in relationships. Understanding how we have learned to connect to ourselves, others and the world is an essential prerequisite for a life well lived.

I aim to provide you with a secure and trustworthy space that will enable you to explore the confusing and painful aspects of your life, which you may be struggling to face on your own.

I have extensive experience working across the full spectrum of human struggle. Most issues result in feelings of helplessness, worry, fear, isolation, depression, despair, regret, doubt, confusion and anxiety.

The way that most of us attempt to overcome the overwhelming sense that things don't feel right, is to avoid thinking about what feels uncomfortable. But by confronting the things we dread within the therapeutic relationship, it is possible to recalibrate your life on a more solid foundation.

My first session

One to One Counselling

There is no charge for the first session and this will give us both the opportunity to assess your needs and have an informal chat through your concerns. The quality of therapeutic relationship has a significant influence on the outcomes of the work we will do together, and it is important that we are relationally compatible.

I charge £60 per hour to be paid before the session begins and this can be weekly or fortnightly to begin with. Once our working relationship is established, the sessions can have more time between them if that is what you would prefer.

Ordinarily I practice within a time limited framework and ten sessions are usually enough to deal with most issues. Ultimately, the duration of the work will be determined by you, your needs and the severity of your struggle.

If you would like to pay for a ten session treatment cycle up front, I only charge for nine hours. This would therefore equate to a one off payment of £540, and the sessions can be taken as and when you want them.
