About me and my therapy practice

About Me

I offer counselling and psychotherapy online and in North London (N4, N7).

I work individually with adults in private practice (since 2020) and at the Psychosis Therapy Project & USEMI Racial Trauma Clinic (since 2017), a specialist community service for people with experience of psychosis and racial trauma. Before that, I provided counselling at Kids Company working with school teachers, parents, and children; and at Mind in Enfield & Barnet's counselling service.

Prior to counselling, I facilitated a mental health day service for women-only at Islington Mind, and coordinated a specialist helpline for people with experience of psychosis living in isolation during COVID-19. I worked in residential therapeutic communities supporting people in recovery with complex mental health difficulties and experience of complex trauma (CHT), and people diagnosed with chronic and severe schizophrenia.

I studied Psychology (BSc), focusing on clinical and social psychology (University of Salzburg, 2014), followed by post-graduate training in Counselling Psychology (MSc), specialising in psychodynamic counselling (City University London, 2016). Since 2021, I have been training additionally in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the SITE for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.

Practice description

What I offer

Psychotherapy offers an invitation to speak, as freely and truthfully as you can, about what is most important to you.

Together, we will examine difficulties in relationships, at work, with sexuality, your body or identity, as they matter to you presently and practically, while making full use of the wealth of information from your unconscious, past and inner life. This approach can be useful to people who wish to forge their own solutions, as well as for people who wish to appreciate something difficult or confusing that has affected them over time. People who come to see me tend to feel overwhelmed or worn out by their circumstances; or have experience of traumatic events, otherness, oppression, unlovedness.

In psychoanalytic psychotherapy, symptoms are understood as psychic solutions that keep unbearable and potentially destabilising feelings and thoughts from our consciousness. When these symptoms cease to function properly, people begin to feel depressed, anxious, overwhelmed. Rather than treating symptoms as causes for illness that need to be removed, we will instead look at them as sources of knowledge that can help us (re)gain stability and adaptability in the future.

What we learn will be gathered, reorganised and put together anew to open up different ways of relating, living, speaking and dreaming.

My professional practice abides by the Codes of Ethics of my professional membership organisation, the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, as well as that of my training institution, the SITE for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.
