About me and my therapy practice

About Me

I offer psychoanalytic psychotherapy for adults, with consulting rooms across London in Archway, Holloway & Farringdon. I am a fully qualified and BACP registered practitioner.

My background is in community mental health and support work.

My clinical experience spans over a decade of working with individuals and groups in talking therapy services, therapeutic communities, mental health organisations, psychiatric units, higher education and schools, as well as supporting people with complex trauma, schizophrenia and addiction in residential settings.

Alongside my private practice, my efforts are dedicated to mental health projects that offer accessible and specialised support for communities adversely affected by class, race, gender, sexuality, disability, immigration status and other forms of structural inequalities and intersections thereof.

Previous involvements include the Psychosis Therapy Project & USEMI Racial Trauma Clinic, as well as the trans-inclusive Women's Day service at Islington Mind.

My qualifications include a degree in Psychology (BSc) from the University of Salzburg (Austria), and post-graduate training in Counselling Psychology (MSc) from City, University of London. I am currently in the final stages of my training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at The SITE for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.

Practice description

What I offer

My approach is informed by psychoanalytic ideas that privilege and respect lived experience, which can sometimes challenge our understanding of ourselves in ways that may be difficult to accept, make sense of, or live with.

Psychoanalysis regards these difficulties not as anomalies but as attempts at adaptation, survival and repair, which protect our consciousness from unbearable and destabilising experiences. The effectiveness of these solutions can vary and may expire as we change and evolve.

We may begin to feel depressed, anxious or overwhelmed, or start questioning our decisions in different areas of our lives. We may get pulled back into past experiences with renewed emotional charge. We may feel discontent in our relationships, at work, with our identity, or in our body. We may feel worn out by prolonged exposure to adverse circumstances beyond our control. We may begin to hear or see things that others do not, or develop unusual beliefs and ideas.

While my way of working makes connections to our past and primary relationships, explorations in that regard serve to enlighten the specificity of the person in the present, and are considered alongside equally significant and 'primary' coordinates of a person's place in the world with regards to their identity and position of power.

This way of examining current difficulties as well as their past and worldly coordinates can lay the foundations for solutions and perspectives that appreciate our personal particularity and relationality.
