About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor, offering a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and respected.
I recognise that every person is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach to suit your individual needs, experiences and goals. I work relationally, recognising the importance of building a trusting and respectful therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable exploring what matters to you.
I draw from different therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, where appropriate. I work collaboratively and at a pace that feels right for you, ensuring that your individual needs remain at the heart of our work together.
Qualifications: CPCAB Level 2 & 3 Counselling; Level 4 Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy; BACP Accredited; Trauma-Informed Practice training.
As a trauma-informed practitioner, I understand that past experiences can have a lasting impact on how we see ourselves, relate to others and navigate life. I aim to provide a supportive and empowering environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement or pressure.
Whether you are struggling with a particular difficulty, feeling overwhelmed, experiencing a period of change, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, therapy can provide an opportunity to pause, reflect and gain a deeper understanding of what you are experiencing.
My role is not to tell you what to do, but to listen, support and work alongside you as you explore what matters to you and what you would like to change. I believe that feeling genuinely heard and accepted can be an important part of the therapeutic process.
If you feel that counselling may be helpful for you, I would be happy to have an initial conversation about what brings you to therapy and how I may be able to support you.
Practice description
I have experience working in a wide range of counselling settings, including the NHS during my training, Employee Assistance Programes (EAP), and private practice.
I work with adults of all ages, including students and older adults, and welcome people experiencing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, identity and relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, trauma, and experiences relating to neurodiversity. I understand that people seek counselling for many different reasons, and I offer a flexible and individualised approach that respects each person’s circumstances and needs.
I provide face-to-face, online and telephone counselling, offering flexibility to help make accessing support as comfortable and convenient as possible. Sessions are available at my private practice in Swimbridge, North Devon, as well as online and by telephone.
I welcome enquiries from anyone considering counselling and would be happy to discuss what you are looking for and whether I may be able to support you.
My first session
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, and it is completely natural to feel unsure about what to expect. My aim is to make the process feel as comfortable, safe and welcoming as possible.
I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation, giving us an opportunity to meet, talk about what has brought you to counselling and discuss what you would like support with. It is also a chance for you to ask any questions you may have and importantly, for us to see whether we feel comfortable working together. There is no pressure or obligation to continue.
If you decide to begin counselling, our first full session will provide an opportunity to explore what you would like to achieve from therapy, your current circumstances and anything you feel is important for me to understand. We will discuss how counselling may work for you and agree on a way of working that feels appropriate and manageable.
You do not need to have everything figured out before your first session. You can take your time, and you only need to share what you feel comfortable sharing. We can work together at your pace.
I offer both short- and long-term counselling, depending on your individual needs and circumstances. We can regularly review how things are going and whether the approach continues to feel helpful for you.
