About me and my therapy practice
Hi
I'm Andrea and an Integrative Therapist or Eclectic Therapist. This means I draw on different modalities such as person centred, CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, Psycho-education, creative therapies, coaching, NLP, Psychosynthesis and Gestalt to deliver therapy as everyone is unique.
I provide in-person sessions in a relaxing room/office in the town centre or you can receive therapy via telephone, video, email or IM.
Practice description
You are probably viewing therapists right now because you are needing a little support and you're not sure who to turn to. This could be for a wide range of issues such as (but no limited to): anxiety, depression, career, academia, relationships, ADHD, neuro-diversity, sexual identity, bereavement, loss, addictions - (food, drugs, alcohol, gambling, shopping), stress, work, trauma, self-harm, PDs, rejection, or just trying to navigate life and finding your purpose.
Talking things through with me and receiving some practical coping strategies along with psycho-education can help you make sense of what you are feeling. Therapy can support you in finding your own inner guidance to make choices and gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
Speaking with a stranger can feel daunting at first, however this is a benefit to you as there is no judgement or worrying what the other person thinks if it were a friend or family member that you were sharing the problem with.
If you would like to try therapy but fearful that you may have to commit, then we can see how you feel after one session and proceed from there.
Sessions can be as flexible to your requirements as there is no one size fits all - ad hoc, single session, brief therapy, short-term or long-term which can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
My first session
When you attend your first session you will be asked questions so that we can uncover what the issues are. It may be fitting to complete an assessment form if sessions are more likely to be long term, however in my experience many clients just want to get everything all out in their first session, so tears are very normal.
Reaching out at first can feel quite scary, but please don't worry as you are entering a safe space and my friendly down-to-earth approach should put you at ease.
