About me and my therapy practice
Online therapy for gambling addiction and lasting recovery
Hi, I’m Kira – an Integrative Therapist with over 12 years’ experience helping people overcome gambling addiction and the trauma that often lies beneath it. I help clients find stability in recovery and build a life that feels meaningful, grounded, and free from gambling.
Many people I work with are in one of two places:
- Still gambling and desperate to stop, but unable to stay stopped.
- In recovery, but finding life without gambling more emotionally difficult than expected.
Wherever you are, you’re not alone – and therapy can help.
If you’re still gambling…
You may have hit rock bottom more times than you can remember, telling yourself “never again,” only to find the cycle repeating. Perhaps you’ve stopped for a while, but end up back where you started, feeling confused, frustrated, and unsure what to do next.
Together, we can explore what keeps you stuck and uncover the deeper reasons behind your gambling. Through online gambling therapy, we’ll work towards helping you stop – and stay stopped – in a supportive, sustainable way.
If recovery feels harder than expected…
You may have felt relief when you first stopped gambling, but everyday stresses remain, and old emotional patterns can resurface. Without gambling as a way to escape, coping with life can feel overwhelming.
In therapy for gambling recovery, we’ll explore what’s beneath those feelings and begin to heal deeper pain or trauma. Together, we’ll strengthen your ability to cope and help you feel steadier in recovery.
Whether you’re looking for therapy to stop gambling or strengthen your recovery, you’re in the right place.
About Kira
I’ve worked with people affected by problem gambling for over 12 years – providing online therapy for gambling addiction and facilitating rehabilitation programmes in residential and retreat settings. It’s been my privilege to help people achieve what once felt impossible: letting go of gambling and building a life in recovery.
Practice description
Psychological therapy for people ready to stop gambling and build a life that supports lasting recovery.
My distinctive way of working brings together different psychological therapy approaches, as well as the learning I’ve developed from the many years of first-hand experience of delivering gambling therapy to people at different stages of recovery.
- I work with each client as an individual and get to understand their past and current struggles, as well as their hopes for future recovery.
- I tailor therapy to the individual, drawing on approaches like person-centred counselling, CBT, emotion-focused work, mindfulness and EMDR - always with the specific needs of each client in mind.
- I’m warm and compassionate, as well as respectfully honest and more directive when this feels more helpful to an individual and their recovery.
- For those who are struggling with the past, I offer EMDR, which is an evidence-based trauma therapy targeting and resolving memories. For those in recovery from gambling, this often means the number of gambling triggers significantly reduce, and this can make life in recovery feel so much easier.
My priority is to really get to know you – not just your struggles, but your hopes, strengths and what matters to you – so we can shape therapy in a way that truly fits.
My first session
What matters to me the most as a Therapist is that I meet you wherever you are, without any judgement, and we work together to empower you to understand yourself, your gambling and build a life in recovery that’s personalised to you.
From our first session, I aim to put you at ease and work at your pace. Together, we’ll build an understanding of where you are in your recovery right now and the struggles you’re facing. We’ll explore where you want to be in the future and what emotional difficulties are holding you back. We’ll then formulate a therapy plan that’s individual to your wishes and needs. My hope is you’ll feel supported and clear and will be able to breathe a sigh of relief knowing you’re not on this journey of recovery alone.
I understand how nerve-wracking it can be to reach out for support, but I’m here to help you, not to judge you.
