About me and my therapy practice
I am trained in a number of therapeutic models which allows me to work in an integrative way. Simply put, this means that I use my skills as appropriate with each person, in each session. I never try to get you to fit into a model, I find a model of working that fits with you. I value human connection and empathy, truly being present and listening to you, and this comes before anything else in my work.
Practice description
Clients tell me that they find me very easy to talk to, that they can tell me things they have never felt able to tell anyone else, and that they feel at ease and understood when working with me. This kind of feedback means everything to me, as this is always my main objective. I am down to earth, calm and genuine. Counselling is a vocation for me and I am privileged to have been in practice for 12 years.
I work in a holistic way, considering mind, body and soul. You are never a set of presenting issues, but a whole person. I work with the whole person.
I offer a safe and confidential space to talk through whatever you need and want to. Counselling is about processing, and ultimately about finding a way forward and bringing about change. I will walk with you whilst you do this work.
Whilst I work with a broad range of issues, I particularly enjoy supporting people with anxiety, addiction, low self esteem, self harm, confidence, relationships, abuse, ADHD, Women's health issues.
I work with adults, couples and young people aged 11+.
Concessionary rates are available for people aged 11-21, student counsellors and retirees.
My first session
Prior to our first session, I will email you an information document, which will go on to form a working contract between us should you go ahead and book in.
When we meet for the first time, you can give me an overview of your concerns or situation, and we may establish a goal or focus for our work together. However, sometimes counselling is more general and open ended, and this is absolutely OK too.
The main thing is that we discover if we are a good fit for working together. It is an opportunity for you to decide if you would like to build a therapeutic relationship with me and continue the work. If I feel that I am not best suited to support you, we can discuss a referral on to someone else.
