About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome to my profile. I am an Integrative Child Counsellor, Executive Function Coach and Mindfulness Teacher with many years of experience in mental health and neurodevelopmental support. I work with children, young people and adults in private practice, both in person and online.
For children and young people aged 4-18, I offer a relaxed and creative space to share, in confidence, what is worrying them or affecting their daily life. This might be anxiety, depression, difficulties at home or school, or navigating a neurodivergent identity. I use art, play, sand tray, puppets and clay to help younger children communicate in ways that feel natural to them. Older young people may prefer talking therapy or CBT-based approaches. Where it feels helpful, I also bring in mindfulness and compassion practices to support emotional regulation and self-awareness.
I am also a qualified Executive Function Coach, working with young people and adults, particularly those with ADHD and ASD, who find planning, organisation, time management, emotional regulation or follow-through a struggle. Coaching is practical and collaborative. We look at what is getting in the way and build strategies that work with how your brain is wired, not against it.
Alongside this, I offer specialist coaching for parents of children and young people with ADHD. Parenting a neurodivergent child brings its own particular challenges and I bring both professional training and lived experience to this work.
As a registered BACP member I am committed to working ethically, relationally and with your whole experience in mind.
Practice description
I work in person in an equipped arts and play therapy room with children and young people up to the age of 18, and online with young people and adults of all ages for both counselling and executive function coaching.
Sessions are individual and tailored to each person, depending on their age, situation and developmental needs, and what they are drawn to.
My areas of speciality include anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, working with trauma, low self-esteem, ADHD and ASD support, school and family related issues, and executive function challenges in young people and adults.
In all cases I am led by my clients' needs and wishes and, importantly, they learn that any emotion or feeling is welcome.
My approach is brain and body based: thinking about any neurological impact caused by trauma or distress, how it affects their state of being in the world, how they experience the world around them, physiologically and emotionally, and the impact on their self-regulation, self-esteem and mood.
Depending on the age and circumstances of my clients, I like to work alongside parents and carers and see us as part of a team. I also offer specialist coaching for parents of children and young people with ADHD, drawing on both my professional training and my own lived experience.
Above all else, the therapeutic relationship is key. I aim to establish a relationship based on trust and to provide an open and non-judgmental space where clients of all ages can learn to develop a more positive relationship with themselves and the world around them.
My first session
Before booking an initial appointment we can have a short conversation by phone or online to talk through what you are looking for and whether I might be a good fit.
For parents bringing a child or young person for counselling, the first session is a chance for us to meet without your child present. I will take a developmental history and hear about your concerns and what you are hoping for. Older children and teenagers may prefer to meet me on their own from the start and we can agree this beforehand.
For adults coming for counselling or executive function coaching, the first session is a chance to talk through what is getting in the way, what you would like to be different, and to get a feel for how I work.
In all first sessions there will be more questions than in a typical session. It is also a chance for you to find out more about me, ask any questions you have, and decide whether working together feels right.
If we both feel it is a good fit, we will agree a regular weekly session time.
For children's counselling, depending on the age and circumstances, parents and carers are sometimes involved in the first few sessions or may stay for parts of subsequent sessions. Staying connected with parents and carers, where appropriate, is something I value as part of the process.
Sessions are available in person and online.
