About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome.

I am a fully qualified Couples Counsellor and experienced Psychotherapist with several years of experience supporting couples through relationship challenges. I previously worked as a Relate Counsellor and hold a Master's Degree in Relationship Therapy.

I work with couples at all stages of their relationship, whether you are recovering from an affair or betrayal, experiencing ongoing conflict, communication difficulties, navigating major life changes, considering separation, or wanting to strengthen your relationship.

As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to the unique needs of each couple. My aim is to provide a safe, balanced and non-judgemental space where both partners feel heard, understood and supported. Together, we explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck and work towards greater understanding, healthier communication and meaningful change.

I offer weekly or fortnightly couples therapy, as well as Intensive Couples Therapy for couples who would benefit from working more deeply over a shorter period. Sessions are available both in person and online.

Practice description

Relationships are an important part of our lives, but they can also be challenged by stress, change and difficult experiences. When communication breaks down or trust has been damaged, it can be difficult to know how to move forward.

I specialise exclusively in working with couples and hold a Master's Degree in Relationship Therapy. As an integrative therapist, I adapt my approach to meet the needs of each couple, recognising that every relationship is unique.

I have experience supporting couples with a wide range of relationship issues, including affairs and betrayal, communication difficulties, intimacy and sexual relationship issues, the impact of previous relationships, family dynamics, and major life changes. I also support couples where individual experiences, such as anxiety, trauma, bereavement or work-related stress, are affecting their relationship.

Whatever brings you to therapy, my role is to help you better understand one another, explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and support you in finding new ways of communicating and relating to each other.

I am passionate about providing a warm, respectful and inclusive service where both partners feel valued, heard and supported. I welcome couples from all backgrounds and relationship styles.

I am passionate about my work and the service I provide. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and I am dedicated to providing a warm, non-judgemental, and inclusive service.

My first session

Before we meet, I will send you my Counselling Agreement, which includes information about confidentiality, data protection, the counselling process and what you can expect from working together. I will also ask you to complete a questionnaire before your first appointment. This helps me gain an understanding of your relationship, identify the issues you would like to address, and prepare for our work together.

If you are attending weekly or fortnightly Couples Therapy, our first session will focus on understanding your relationship, exploring the challenges that have brought you to counselling, and identifying the goals you would like to work towards. This assessment helps us agree on the most appropriate therapeutic approach and ensures that both partners have the opportunity to feel heard and understood.

If you are attending Intensive Couples Therapy, the information you provide beforehand allows me to prepare in greater depth before we meet. This means we can begin working on your priorities from the outset and make the best use of our extended time together over one or two days.

I offer face-to-face sessions from my private counselling room in an attached cottage near Moffat, Dumfries & Galloway (approximately 37 miles from Carlisle). The peaceful countryside setting provides a calm, private and welcoming environment, with parking available on site. I also offer online Couples Therapy and online Intensive Couples Therapy.

Further information about Couples Therapy and Intensive Couples Therapy is available on my website: www.jotrevittcouplescounselling.co.uk.
