About me and my therapy practice

About my Therapeutic approach

I am a qualified and experienced therapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working in accordance with their ethical framework to provide safe, professional, and confidential therapy.

With over 15 years of experience, I work with both adults and teenagers, specialising in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I take a holistic approach to therapy, recognising the close connection between mind and body, and how emotional distress is often experienced physically as well as psychologically.

My work is integrative and body-aware, supporting clients not only to talk about their difficulties but also to develop greater awareness of how stress, trauma, and emotions are held within the body. Where appropriate, I gently incorporate grounding and nervous system regulation techniques to support safety, stability, and emotional balance.

I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where clients can explore difficult experiences at their own pace. I believe therapy should feel collaborative, supportive, and empowering, helping you move forward with greater confidence, insight, and connection to yourself.

I am committed to providing an inclusive, compassionate, and respectful service for all clients.

Practice description

My practice offers a calm, professional, and confidential space for both adults and teenagers seeking support with emotional and psychological difficulties, including trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. You will be met with warmth, respect, and understanding from your first session.

In our initial session, we will map out what you would like to work on and what you hope to gain from therapy. Sessions provide space to reflect on your experiences while exploring the different parts of yourself — for example, using a parts-based approach such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) to better understand inner conflict, emotional patterns, and protective behaviours.

For teenagers, I also support issues related to school and exam pressure, friendship challenges, stress, and identity development. Therapy can help young people navigate these pressures, build confidence, and develop healthy coping strategies in a safe and non-judgemental environment.

At times, I will gently challenge you — particularly unhelpful thinking patterns and the inner critic that can undermine confidence and emotional wellbeing. Together, we will work toward developing a healthier mindset, stronger self-awareness, and emotional resilience. I will also guide you in connecting with and expressing your authentic self, so you can live in a way that feels true and aligned with who you really are.

Sessions are flexible and guided by your needs, allowing you to work at your own pace while making meaningful progress.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, understand your experiences, and establish a clear focus for your therapy. During this session, I will take time to gather your personal history in a safe and confidential way, including:

• Your personal background and significant life experiences.

• Emotional, psychological, and physical health history.

• Past experiences with therapy or support, if relevant.

• Key challenges or difficulties you are currently facing.

• For teenagers, areas such as school life, exam pressure, friendships, and identity development.

This helps me understand your experiences in context, explore patterns, recognise strengths, and collaboratively set meaningful goals.

I have extensive experience working with men and women, young people with anxiety and low moods, abuse, mothers with postnatal depression and loss of identity, bereavement, relationship issues, family dynamics, cultural identity anger and trauma.

I look forward to our therapeutic journey together.
