About me and my therapy practice
Hello and Welcome, thank you for visiting my page,
I am Sybina Illsley, an experienced Accredited Integrative Counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy MBACP (Accred).
Many come to therapy not because everything has fallen apart, but because something doesn’t feel right. You might be getting on with life on the surface working, caring for others, meeting expectations while feeling flat, overwhelmed, disconnected, or quietly struggling underneath. Often, people notice the same patterns repeating in relationships, growing self-doubt, or a sense of emotional exhaustion that won’t shift.
You may be dealing with bereavement or loss, major life changes such as redundancy, separation or divorce, or ongoing difficulties with partners, family, friends or colleagues. For some, these struggles are shaped by earlier experiences, cultural or intergenerational expectations, or by learning to adapt, mask, or stay strong rather than feel understood.
I offer a professional and confidential space where you can speak openly and be met with care, curiosity, and respect. My approach is warm and relational, while also psychologically informed. I work collaboratively, but I’m not a passive therapist. I will help you make sense of emotional and relational patterns, name what feels confusing or hard to put into words, and gently challenge what may no longer be serving you.
I came to this work after experiencing first-hand how powerful it can be to feel truly heard and understood. Supporting others to develop clarity, self-acceptance, and a steadier relationship with themselves is something I value deeply, and it continues to shape how I work.

Practice description
I’m mindful of how identity, culture, neurodiversity, and wider social contexts shape emotional experience. I work with cultural humility and an awareness of power, difference, and belonging. Many of the people I work with have felt misunderstood, overlooked, or under pressure to fit into systems or relationships that weren’t designed with them in mind.
My practice is neurodivergence-affirming, meaning difference isn’t treated as deficit. Sessions are adapted to suit your communication style, processing pace, and individual needs. We may explore anxiety, burnout, identity, boundaries, emotional regulation, or the impact of masking and ongoing stress.
Our work will focus on helping you better understand yourself, recognise your strengths, and notice patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Where it feels helpful, we can explore how past experiences continue to influence the present, and how change can begin in ways that feel manageable and sustainable.
If you’re wondering whether therapy might help, you’re welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation. There’s no pressure just a chance to see whether we might be a good fit.
