About me and my therapy practice
There are moments in life that can affect us deeply, whether they happened recently or are rooted in the past. These can have a powerful impact on how we feel and function. You might be feeling overwhelmed, confused, or stuck in patterns that are hard to understand or manage. These experiences can shape how we think, feel, and behave, often without us realising. You might want things to change, or feel ready to change something within yourself. This is where counselling can support you.
Counselling gives you space to explore what you’re going through, whether you know exactly what’s troubling you or simply feel that something isn’t right. It’s a space where you can be yourself and feel truly heard.
My aim is to provide a safe, confidential, and non‑judgemental space, working with empathy and at your pace. Together, we will explore what you’re experiencing and find ways to move towards your goals. I am committed to listening and working alongside you as you develop your own understanding and awareness, helping you discover your own answers and create the changes that feel right for you.
Practice description
As an Accredited Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, I work from the core models of Person‑Centred, Gestalt, and Transactional Analysis. This integrative approach enables me to adapt therapy to what feels most comfortable and helpful for you, supporting your inner strengths while exploring the areas you find challenging. My aim is to accompany you through your process with respect for your individuality and lived experience.
I recognise and value the unique qualities you already bring, and I offer a compassionate, non‑judgemental space where we can explore the challenges you’re facing together.
My background includes many years in private practice as well as volunteering at St Peter & St James Hospice, supporting those bereaved or caring for loved ones. I have also worked with individuals and couples at Pavilions Drug and Alcohol Service, and for several years with a charity supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse.
Having been a client in therapy myself, I know how daunting starting counselling can be — and how transformative it can become. With the right support, therapy can nurture growth, healing, and a renewed sense of confidence in yourself and your life.
My first session
I offer a free 20‑minute introductory session by telephone or Zoom. This gives us a chance to explore what you’re looking for and helps me understand what has brought you to this point. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask any questions or share any concerns you may have. Together, we can get a sense of whether I’m the right person to support you and whether my approach feels like a good fit. At the end of the call, we can decide what feels right moving forward. There is no obligation to book further sessions, and I often encourage people to speak with a few counsellors before choosing — feeling safe and comfortable is essential.
If you prefer, I’m also very happy to answer any questions by email, text or WhatsApp before arranging an introductory session.
