About me and my therapy practice
I qualified as an integrative therapist in 2017 and continued my undergraduate studies, focusing on the specialist area of counselling and psychotherapy research, which I use to inform my practice. I work by drawing on a range of effective approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT), Existential Therapy, Humanistic and Person-Centred Therapy (PCT).
I believe you are the expert on your own life, which is why I work from a person-centred foundation. My role is not to advise you or tell you what to do. Instead, I'll support you in exploring the areas of your life you choose to bring to our sessions, helping you navigate challenges and discover your own path forward.
I understand the complexities and challenges that life can bring, and this experience allows me to bring a unique understanding and profound empathy to my practice, fostering a truly inclusive and accepting environment for all my clients.
Together, we will work towards helping you make your own decisions and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your unique situation. I'm committed to providing a non-judgmental, confidential, and empathic space where you can explore your issues at your own pace and in your own time.
Practice description
Welcome to my counselling practice. I work with neurodivergent clients and recognise that traditional counselling approaches do not suit everyone. I offer a flexible and supportive space where sensory needs, communication preferences and individual experiences are respected, helping you feel understood and supported.
During our work together, we will regularly evaluate and review how the counselling is progressing and if it is the most suitable form of support for you at this time.
If you feel that our online counselling relationship is not working, if you require a counsellor with specific expertise, or if online work is not suitable for you, then I will help you find a counsellor to best suit your needs.
If I feel that I am not able to provide you with the level of support you require (for example, if I feel your mental health issues are outside my area of expertise), I have the right to discontinue our work together. This would be done with your own best interests at heart and carried out as sensitively as possible. I will help you to find alternative support where possible.
In this instance, I will need to get your informed consent to pass on your details, if this is how you choose to proceed.
My first session
Before we commence our therapeutic relationship, I will ask you to complete a pre-assessment client questionnaire. This is to help me to understand and support your needs, to ensure I can support your diversity requirements, manage risks and expectations, and to address any health & safety issues.
As a practitioner, I have a fundamental duty of care towards your mental & physical wellbeing, which I take very seriously, in line with BACP ethical principles.
If you’re thinking about counselling, the next step doesn’t have to be a big one. You’re welcome to get in touch to ask questions, talk through access needs, or see whether working together feels like a good fit. There’s no obligation to book a session. We can start with a brief conversation and take things at your pace.
You can contact me by email or through my online enquiry form.
We can discuss what you’re looking for and any access adjustments that would be helpful.
If it feels right, we can arrange an initial session at a time that works for you.
You don’t need to know exactly what to say. I’ll guide you through the process.
