About me and my therapy practice

Hello and thank you for choosing to look at my profile.

Are you finding life difficult and challenging at the moment?  Maybe leaving you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, isolated, with your mind full of thoughts and worries?  Maybe you don't really know how you're feeling, but know that something needs to change.

At times like this I believe it is beneficial to have someone to talk too, someone who will offer support and really listen, empathically and without judgement.

As an experienced Integrative Counsellor my first priority will be to offer you a safe space where you feel accepted.  Where you can press pause on life and have time to focus on you.   Allowing you to be able to freely explore your inner thoughts and feelings.

I believe that we are all the experts on ourselves and my role as your Counsellor isn't to tell you what to do.  It may not seem like it at the moment, but you are the only one who truly understands yourself and I will work with you and support you to help you in realising that.

I have a flexible way of working and will always be led by you and work at your pace.  You are my priority and together we will explore the difficulties you are facing and the impact this is having on your life.

This exploration brings about a greater self-awareness.  Self-awareness is key to therapy and is empowering as it enables us to understand ourselves better and improve our self-esteem.  I will work with you towards making the necessary changes in order to find the right path for you to move forward in your life, in a more positive and fulfilling way.  A way that feels right for you.

I fully understand and appreciate that the thought of counselling may seem daunting. Practice description

It can be difficult to imagine what therapy might be like if you haven't experienced it before and there are a range of different therapies to choose from.

My work is non-directive, which means that there is no set agenda and I will be led by you.  My role is to give you a safe space to allow you to talk freely and openly about whatever is on your mind.

We will have regular check-ins too. This is so that I can be sure that you are getting what you need from our sessions.  It is also a good opportunity for you to reflect on the progress and changes that you have made since beginning therapy.  

My first session

I fully appreciate that the thought of therapy may well be daunting (I have been a client myself).  Before the first session, you maybe thinking that you don't know what to say, or where to even start.

Please try not to worry. That is not unusual. I am here to help you. It maybe that we start with you telling me about your family dynamics, support network (if any). Or the moment you realised you needed support and decided to get in touch. I will go at your pace and stay alongside you as we explore your world together, one step at a time.
