About me and my therapy practice
Counselling can seem a strange process. It's a brave, life changing step towards a happier life but it can be hard to put your finger on how it all happens. There is no proven one size fits all approach to this work because no two people are the same.
I have worked in counselling for 18 years. I have worked with children, teenagers, couples, families and adult individuals from all walks of life.
Counselling is not about just talking about your problems (I wouldn't have lasted 18 years if it was). It is about the whole experience of you.
It is about developing self awareness with self compassion rather than criticism.
It is about using that new awareness to make positive change.
The counselling relationship is the most important aspect to this process. Having someone who is neutral, non-judgemental, empathic, authentic and hopefully insightful to support you on your journey.
It is usually a crisis that brings a person to counselling but what we often discover, is that by facing our struggles with courage and honesty, not only do we overcome a difficult time but we make space for a more joyful and fulfilling existence.
Practice description
I was originally trained in person centred counselling. This approach highlights the importance of the relationship between the counsellor and client and will always be the basis of the way that I work. Over the years I have incorporating elements of ACT, Gestalt and Somatic therapy. Having a greater understanding of ourselves is key but what really creates lasting change is to take this new understanding and integrate it into our everyday lives and relationships.
I work from Worcester wellness in Shrawley.
I also offer walking sessions in the Wyre forest and Shrawley woods. Walking as we talk helps us to process the physiological response to stress, it regulates our nervous system and helps us to gain clarity and calm.
What I can help with
