About me and my therapy practice

You may be considering counselling because something in your life feels difficult, painful or stuck. Perhaps you are facing a crisis or change, struggling in a relationship, feeling anxious or overwhelmed, or finding that old patterns are no longer helping you.

Counselling offers a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and explore your whole experience—not only the problem that brought you. Together, we can develop greater self-awareness and understand the feelings, experiences and patterns that may be affecting you.

I believe that meaningful change begins with self-compassion rather than self-criticism. I will listen carefully and work alongside you with warmth, honesty and empathy, helping you find your own way forward at a pace that feels manageable.

The relationship between counsellor and client is central to this process. It is important that you feel heard, respected and able to be yourself.

I have worked in counselling for 20 years with adults, couples, families, teenagers and children from many different backgrounds. Although people often seek counselling during a difficult period, the process can lead to greater understanding, more satisfying relationships and a more fulfilling way of living.

Practice description

I originally trained in person-centred counselling, which places the relationship between counsellor and client at the heart of the work. This remains the foundation of my practice.

Over the years, I have developed an integrative approach that includes elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gestalt therapy and somatic therapy. Greater self-understanding is important, but lasting change also involves finding ways to integrate that understanding into everyday life. I adapt the way I work to suit each person rather than expecting one approach to fit everyone.

I offer face-to-face sessions from counselling rooms in Bewdley and Shrawley, as well as online sessions.

I also offer walking sessions in Wyre Forest and Shrawley Woods. Some people find that walking side by side feels more comfortable than sitting face to face. Gentle movement and time in nature can support reflection, help settle the nervous system and create a greater sense of clarity and calm.

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin exploring what has brought you to counselling. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable; there is no expectation that you tell me everything straight away.

I will explain how I work, confidentiality and its limits, and the practical arrangements for sessions. We can discuss what you are hoping for from counselling and any questions or concerns you may have.

The relationship between counsellor and client is important, so the first session also gives you a chance to decide whether I feel like the right counsellor for you. There is no obligation to continue, and if we do decide to work together, we can agree on a way forward that feels manageable and appropriate for you.
