Perhaps a relationship has ended, or a job has come to a close. You might be feeling lost, unsure where you belong, or uncertain about the direction your life is taking.
You may find that you function well when you’re busy, especially at work, but struggle when things slow down. Resting or “doing nothing” can feel uncomfortable, even overwhelming, and you might notice a tendency to keep yourself occupied to avoid these feelings.
You might find yourself working over-time to avoid this feeling and are now feeling burned out.
At times, you feel emotionally disconnected, as though you’re watching life from a distance, or as if it hasn’t quite begun for you yet.
Going out of your way to make new friends/ relationships might feel very effortful, and something you would rather avoid.
You tend to be the person people go to for emotional support, but you're not sure where to go to get your needs met.
I offer my undivided attention in a calm and non-judgemental space where you can finally feel truly seen exactly as you are. Together, we can gently explore what’s been happening for you, reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been set aside, and help you feel more at ease within yourself and in your relationships.
You don’t have to figure any of this out alone.

About me and my therapy practice
I’m Sarah, a trauma-informed therapist, dedicated to helping people make sense of what feels hard to name.
I offer therapy to individuals and couples and am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP, registration number 00815695). My sessions are a safe, confidential space to explore your experiences without judgment, notice the patterns that no longer serve you, and nurture the emotional resources needed for a fulfilling life. Together, we identify the parts of you that adapted to survive and find ways for your real, maybe hidden self to feel seen, heard, and valued.
Drawing on my own experiences as a member of the LGBT+ community and as someone who grew up highly sensitive, I have a particular interest in how our authentic selves adapt to early challenges. These adaptations can protect us when we’re young but may later lead to isolation, self-doubt, perfectionism, or disconnection.
I accept Bupa clients, my provider number is 30063929
Practice description
My practice provides a calm, confidential space. I understand how exhausting it can be when anxiety makes you worry about relationships, fear being too much, or feel constantly on edge about whether people will stay or pull away. Many of us carry quiet wounds from childhood, moments when our needs or feelings were not fully seen or soothed. These early experiences can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and others, anxious in relationships, or like we have to perform or adapt to be loved.
In our work together, we can gently explore these patterns, help your nervous system feel more settled, and build a greater sense of safety, self acceptance, and ease in connection with others.
I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity struggles, relationship difficulties, loss, and long term health issues. Whether you are looking for short term support or longer term therapy, I offer a steady, warm, and relational space where healing can unfold safely and at your own pace.
You are very welcome to email me to arrange a free short telephone call so we can see if we feel like a good fit. You can also book this directly on my website: www.sarahjanestherapy.com.
Sessions last up to 60 minutes and are held via Zoom or telephone.
Fee: £60
My first session
The initial sessions are about building a shared understanding of what is really going on.
The real issue is not the depression or the anxiety, but the underlying psychological processes that cause or maintain them. This deeper understanding becomes the central focus of our work together in psychotherapy.
This shared understanding may emerge during the first session or unfold gradually over the first few. It will naturally evolve as therapy progresses. However, from the very beginning, there should be a clear focus; both of us need to know exactly what we are working on and why we are here.

If you’re considering counselling, I offer a free 15 minute call consultation to talk through what’s bringing you here and to see whether we might be a good fit.
My experience includes supporting people through depression, trauma, anxiety, loss, grief and questions of identity and belonging, particularly within the LGBT+ community. About me and my therapy practice
I’m Sarah Janes, a queer, trauma-informed therapist dedicated to helping people make sense of what feels overwhelming, painful, or difficult to name.
How do you know if you have trauma?
You might feel anxious, low, disconnected, or trapped in the same patterns, without knowing why. Trauma, particularly cumulative trauma isn't usually about one big event, it can be the affect of a lack of emotional attunement from a young age, stress, loss, difficult relationships, or experiences that left you feeling unseen or unsafe.
My practice offers a safe, relational and confidential space to explore how trauma affects both mind and body. Many people find it hard to talk about their past, avoidance is a natural response to pain. I work at your pace, focusing first on stability and emotional safety before moving into deeper work.
My approach is rooted in Person Centred Counselling, drawing on the ideas of Carl Rogers: empathy, authenticity and unconditional positive regard. I also integrate Internal Family Systems and structural dissociation to help make sense of how trauma can cause parts of the self to fragment, leaving us feeling 'not like ourselves.' Gently, we work to bring these parts into connection fostering self-compassion, balance and wholeness.
Alongside trauma work, I have extensive experience supporting people through loss, bereavement, long term health challenges and identity exploration.
If you’re ready to explore how trauma may be shaping your life, I offer an initial consultation to see if we’re the right fit.
Practice description
My practice provides a calm, confidential space to explore what feels difficult or overwhelming at a pace that feels right for you.
As a member of the LGBT+ community, I have a particular interest in supporting clients navigating identity, belonging, and the impact of minority stress. Many people grow up adapting parts of themselves to fit in or stay safe, which can lead to feelings of disconnection, shame or isolation later in life. Together, we can work towards understanding and integrating these experiences, fostering greater self-acceptance and ease in relationships.
I support clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, identity and relationship challenges, as well as loss and long-term health issues. Whether you’re seeking short-term support or longer-term therapy, my aim is to offer a steady, relational space where healing can unfold safely and at your own pace.
