About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Dee Critoph
Would you like a Compassionate, Safe Space to Speak Freely & Explore Whatever is on 'Your Mind'?
I understand life can feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with distressing thoughts or emotions — feeling anxious, stressed, depressed, lonely, isolated, or stuck — as though life has closed in and you’re unsure how to move forward.
Perhaps you’re hoping to reconnect with a sense of direction, purpose, or meaning in your life. Or maybe you’re interested in therapy to get to know yourself better — to explore your thoughts and feelings more deeply, or to approach your relationship with yourself and others with greater curiosity and understanding.
Whether you want to explore past or present experiences, relationships, dreams, fears, concerns, feelings, or thoughts — or anything else on your mind — it’s all welcome.
I feel I'm most effective when I can help others to speak freely, listen to themselves, and discover their own inner truths through the therapeutic process.
About me
My experience is drawn from a background in swimming, teaching and coaching both children and adults, alongside a career in social care working with homeless and forensic populations.
At the heart of my work is a deep respect for trust, patience, empathy, and compassion, and for meeting each person where they are. I bring this into my therapy practice in a thoughtful, creative, and dynamic way, helping you explore and make sense of your experiences at your own pace.
I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where you're welcome to speak openly and be heard, taking a curious and collaborative approach as we explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences together.

My first session
The first step: What to expect
It's completely natural to feel apprehensive and anxious when seeking therapy; it can be daunting and takes courage — it's the first step.
Please contact me by phone or email, and we can arrange a time to meet for an initial consultation. In this session, we can explore what's troubling you now as well as the wider picture of your life.
The introductory session would also give you an idea of what it's like to be with me as a therapist.
It carries no obligation to commit; deciding the best therapy for you will require some thought, and the first meeting can help us with that. Occasionally, a second consultation may be helpful.
If we decide to meet on an ongoing basis, we will discuss the ongoing fee and logistics.
Ongoing sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held at the same time and day, at a minimum frequency of once a week.
A realistic note
Therapy isn’t an easy process. Sessions can feel challenging; it takes time, commitment, and courage. At the same time, people often find it deeply meaningful, with the potential to open the door to new ways of understanding yourself, your relationships, and your experiences.
Everyone is different, and your experience will be unique to you.
