About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Melanie, a relational integrative therapist and clinical supervisor in London. I understand that life can be challenging sometimes. Therapy here is a quiet, emotionally attuned space for the parts of you that have carried too much, for too long. I support high-functioning people carrying emotional exhaustion, trauma, identity struggles, and relational pain.
You may appear to have things together on the outside, whilst privately feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, disconnected, anxious, burnt out, or stuck in patterns that no longer feel sustainable. Sometimes people spend so long surviving, performing, or carrying responsibility for others that they lose connection with themselves in the process.
I offer therapy for individuals navigating trauma, emotional overwhelm, identity, race-based traumatic stress, epistemic violence/harm, relational difficulties, grief, burnout, anxiety, shame, and the emotional impact of feeling unseen or misunderstood. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, high-functioning individuals who are used to coping alone, supporting others, or minimising their own needs.
My approach is relational, reflective, and collaborative. I aim to create a therapeutic space that feels emotionally safe, culturally aware, and grounded in genuine human connection rather than judgment or pressure to “fix” yourself.
Practice description
As a relational integrative therapist and doctoral trainee in counselling psychology and psychology, my work draws from psychodynamic, person-centred, CBT, ACT, and relational approaches. I am particularly interested in the ways trauma, identity, culture, belonging, power, and early relational experiences shape how we experience ourselves and others. Alongside private practice, I also work as a clinical supervisor, lecturer, and facilitator. My wider interests include justice-informed practice, race-based traumatic stress, epistemic harm, identity, and emotional well-being.
Therapy with me is not about pretending everything is okay or forcing positivity. It is about creating space to think, feel, process, and understand yourself more deeply, often for the first time in a long time.
My first session
The first session is a full initial consultation lasting about an hour. We have a collaborative conversation aimed at building trust, exploring your history, and determining if my approach aligns with your needs. It typically focuses on understanding your life context and relational patterns, rather than just diagnosing symptoms.
