About me and my therapy practice

I am a registered counsellor and member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) based in Salisbury.

I provide a safe and confidential space, where I help my clients explore some of their presenting issues in a nurturing and supportive way. With an empathic and non-judgemental approach, I aim to build a trusting relationship with every client I work with.

By gaining a shared understanding of your experiences, we will work together to help provide a platform for healing, in finding solutions and creating a more peaceful and fulfilling life.

Practice description

My counselling approach is ‘Humanistic’ with a strong leaning towards ‘Person Centred’. This means a client can explore their issues at a pace and depth that feels comfortable for them. I use a ‘holistic’ approach encompassing all areas of one’s life within the counselling process. Where appropriate, I may apply other theories into my practice, with aspects of Mindfulness and Compassion Focussed Therapy.

At times life can be complex and present many challenges and often we have to face fear, deal with crisis and difficult issues. When our ‘normal’ coping mechanisms are not enough, this is when we can seek additional support. Counselling, also known as ‘talking therapy’ is often the next step.

Counselling is for anyone struggling to come to terms with any of life’s events and the associated emotional pain and distress that accompany this.

My first session

If you decide to commence counselling, our first session will be a gentle introduction. It is an opportunity to talk about any concerns or anxieties you may have about the counselling process. We will discuss what it is you would like to bring to counselling and your expectations. I will gather some personal information about you and together we will talk about how we might work together. We will also agree a working contract which I will ask you to sign.
