About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling depressed, anxious, alone, or confused about life and relationships? Are you feeling overwhelmed and wanting to explore who you are and what you want from life? Depression, trauma, and anxiety can lead to feelings of despair or numbness, persistent sadness, and making it hard to move forward. During these difficulties, life can get us down, making it hard to focus on what we need and struggling to see a way through. We can work together to identify the source of your difficulties and support you to connect with and better understand your feelings.
My name is Milton and I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and my practice is underpinned by the BACP Ethical Framework. I have over 10 years of experience and worked as a therapist in the NHS and in a leading LGBTQ+ organisation.
I have a MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy informed in the Person-Centred Approach (PCA). In addition, I completed the evidence-based Counselling for Depression training (CfD) which is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a talking therapy for people with depression. This well researched therapy is widely used in the NHS.
Practice description
Welcome to my therapy practice! I am dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. My core approach is Person Centred Approach with elements of Emotional Focused Therapy. This integrated method supports you in gaining insight into your behaviours and emotions while enhancing your relationships with others. In addition to my core approach, I offer Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). IPT is a structured, evidence-based therapy that focuses on improving your relationships and social functioning to help alleviate symptoms of depression and other mood disorders. It is particularly effective for addressing issues such as grief, role transitions, interpersonal disputes, and social isolation.
My first session
During our first session, we will take the time to get to know each other and discuss your reasons for seeking therapy. This initial meeting is an opportunity for you to share your story and for me to understand your needs and expectations. I offer a 15-minute free consultation for you to begin your therapeutic journey. Additionally, I may ask you to complete a brief assessment to help us identify key areas of focus and set the foundation for our work together. My aim is to create a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere where you feel heard and understood from the very beginning.
I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your path to well-being. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please feel free to reach out.
