I offer a range of hours through the week, including evenings and also Saturday mornings to try and make sure there is time to suit everyone's needs. I try to be as flexible as possible so please do not hesitate to let me know what works best for you and I will try and accommodate your schedule.
About me and my therapy practice
I believe that everybody will need something slightly different from therapy and to achieve that I work from an integrated, person centred approach. Using an integrated approach means that I will use different ideas or techniques from a range of models that I believe will best suit your needs. I am always happy to explain why I have chosen particular techniques and believe that the more knowledge you have the more power you have over your own therapeutic journey. I will work with you to identify or clarify what you would like to gain from therapy and together we will work towards this. I will check in regularly with you to make sure that you feel that you are making progress towards your goals. I combine a very friendly and open approach with clear boundaries to ensure that everyone feels safe and secure in the counselling relationship.
Practice description
I am based in Warwickshire and am happy to carry out in person sessions which can be arranged on an individual basis. A lot of my work happens remotely either online or on the phone. I believe that this way of working allows you to find the right therapist for you regardless of location.
I also offer equine facilitated psychotherapy from my base in Warwickshire. After completing a number of training courses I will be completing a Masters in Animal Assisted Counselling and Psychotherapy in order to deepen my knowledge and understanding in this area.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute initial consultation session either on the phone or by a video call so that you can meet me and I can make an initial assessment of your needs to ensure that I have the skill set to work with you effectively.
In my first session I tend to ask a lot of questions which will span a range of topic areas, probably even areas away from the specific issue that you have come to counselling for. This is to help me get a wider understanding of your life and experiences. This is a process that continues more gradually over a number of sessions and is done in a gentle way to ensure that it is not overwhelming. There may be things that you are not comfortable talking about in that first session and that is fine - I will be guided by you and am happy to return to certain subjects at a later point, if at all.
