About me and my therapy practice
Finding the right counsellor for you is important, but it can also be a daunting task! Maybe you haven’t opened up to anyone before and fear sounding silly or being judged? Or perhaps you are struggling to make sense of it all and don’t know where to start? I will do my best to reassure you as you take those first steps.
I am a qualified and experienced, Person-centred, counsellor and psychotherapist (PGDip in Counselling and Psychotherapy; BACP registered) and can offer you a safe, confidential space to talk about the situation you have been struggling with and explore your thoughts and feelings. Being heard and feeling understood can be a powerful experience and I am trained to listen and to support you through this process.
I enjoy working with those seeking to understand themselves better and wishing to make changes in their lives and also those who are living with the impact of trauma. I am a qualified TIST practitioner (Trauma Informed Stabilisation Treatment); a model of therapy which aims to help you learn skills to manage the impact of trauma on your day-to-day life.
The relationship we build is where the therapy happens; we will work together to help you gain better understanding and new perspectives, to make positive changes in your life and to find your own way forward. I work with adults and young people (18+) from a mix of backgrounds.
My previous experience includes counselling roles within a university setting; a general counselling service and; a trauma support service where I have helped clients with a range of issues such as; anxiety and depression; confidence and self-esteem issues; dealing with loss and change; relationship or family problems; search for self and existential issues; life transitions; navigating late-diagnosis ASD/ADHD.
My lived experience enhances my understanding of the challenges specific to neuro-diverse (NT/ASD) relationships and I welcome enquiries around this issue.
Contact me today; I aim to respond to all enquiries ASAP.
Practice description
Sessions are online and last for 60minutes.
I really enjoy working remotely and completed Advanced Online Therapy Training in 2020 to compliment my existing/core qualifications.
Online counselling is a fulfilling and effective form of therapy, which has definite benefits. Finding space in our lives to focus on our selves can be so hard when life is busy. Working online gives you the flexibility to fit therapy in around other commitments such as work, studies and family and leaves you free to decide where you would like to be when you have your therapy. All you need is a good signal and a device suitable for video calls! I meet with clients using a video conferencing platform specifically designed to meet the needs of healthcare providers which is secure and very simple to navigate.
I offer brief and longer-term therapy depending on your specific needs: working in an open-ended way allows you to be in control of when you feel ready to start and end counselling.
My first session
I offer a reduced rate of £50 for the initial session. (subsequent sessions are £70) This gives us the opportunity to meet each other and get a clearer picture of what has prompted you to seek counselling at this time, complete an initial assessment of your counselling needs and decide whether we might work well together. It also gives you a chance to gain a sense of my way of working and ask any questions you may have about what to expect from the process of counselling to help you decide if it feels right for you at this time.
Types of therapy
Humanistic, Integrative, Person centred
Clients I work with
Adults, Older adults, Trainees, Young people
How I deliver therapy
Long term sessions, Online therapy, Short term sessions, Time-limited
