About me and my therapy practice
TAKING THERAPY OUTSIDE - Bristol Downs
I offer one to one sessions on Bristol Downs. Some people find the idea of sitting in a small room, across from someone very intense and prefer the idea of being somewhere spacious. Other people feeling a connection to nature and want to work outside. Whatever your reason there is a growing body of evidence of the advantages of working outdoors.
You may have difficult feelings, or issues that feel impossible to resolve, be struggling with relationships or feel stuck or have lost purpose or meaning. I offer a safe, confidential place for you to talk about whats going on for you.
There are points in our lives when we all need some extra help. I won’t give you advice but I will listen, helping you to understand yourself better and make positive changes in your life.
I describe myself as an ‘Integrative therapist’ which means I draw on different therapeutic tools and approaches to help you find your path towards more self-acceptance and to enjoy more connection to others and yourself.
I offer long and short term counselling depending on what's right for you and have worked with peoples experiencing many of life's challenges including:
• depression
• anxiety
• relationship issues
• bereavement
• work / life balance
• fertility, parenting and family
I also run courses in ‘Creative Writing for Well Being’ (writeupstuff.tumblr.com) and where appropriate I work with creative expression to support the counselling process
I am a fully qualified practitioner and a member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. (Registered Member MBACP).
I offer sessions at the Practice Rooms in Cotham, Clifton and outdoors on the Bristol Downs and at Leigh Woods.
My first session
I usually suggest an initial session of 30 minutes to talk through what you might want from counselling and how we would work together if you decided to go ahead.

I am Programme Leader for the Counselling Certificate for the University of West of England and have taught counselling in Higher and Further Education for the last 6 years.
Im also qualified as a Teacher of Mindful Self Compassion https://self-compassion.org/the-program/Instructor and incorporate self compassion and trauma informed approaches into my work and my life.
I offer creative ways of working - so not just words if that appeals to the people I work with. I am a fully qualified practitioner and a member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. (Accreditated Member MBACP).
I am committed to anti-oppressive practice and intend to make a safe and inclusive space to welcome everyone.

I believe that therapy can changes lives, and its not a silver bullet. It ask that you are willing to look within and understand yourself not with judgement but just as you might seek to understand a good friend.

Practice description
There is a growing body of evidence of the benefits of working therapeutically outside. And some people just prefer not to sit in a room across from someone, and like the space of being outside.
Nature and feeling connected to something bigger than ourselves can be a resource when our lives feel difficult or overwhelming.
If you would like to talk through working outdoors - the practicalities etc I am happy to have an initial telephone conversation. Please do get in touch if this is something you may be interested in.
My first session
I offer a 30 minute first session where we talk through what you would like from therapy and think about what you would feel about us working together. A chance to check things out and for both of us to check into whether we are a 'good fit'.

I mainly offer supervision on Mondays and Fridays and offer both in person and online.
About me and my therapy practice
Supervision is work that I love, and have always found interesting and rewarding.
I aim to provide a space for you to reflect on your work and better understand yourself and your counselling relationships.Part of our work together would be to help you find your own supportive internal supervisor, something that was and is so key to my own therapeutic practice.
I draw on my training in Mindful Self Compassion to help you find your ground and aim to provide a nurturing and playful space for you to explore all apsects of your work.
I offer an open, respectful relationship to support you in your relationships and work. Working with all the parts of you that might show up in your work and life.
I am currently completing my Counselling Supervision qualification with CSTD https://www.cstdbath.co.uk/ and mainly use the 7 eyed model - Hawkins and Shohet's model. While I complete my training I am offering a reduced rate of £50 until I qualify when the fee will be £60
I am qualified as a Teacher of Mindful Self Compassion https://self-compassion.org/the-program/ and I draw on my understanding of self compassion and how it can support all of us on our therapeutic work and lives. I am also currently training in trauma recovery practice.
Practice description
Supervision needs to feel a safe and welcoming space and thats what I aim to offer. I love to work creatively and in collaboration.
I currently work with supervisees offering supervision informed by my training in 'Mindful Self Compassion' and by the recent research which shows better outcomes for clients when we are hold ourselves with kindness as well as our clients.
I also work with newly qualified and trainee counsellors. My work as a lecturer in Further Education and with Bath Spa and University of West of England has helped me understand the challenges of finding your 'counselling feet', and the importance of solid supervisionary support when starting out.
