About me and my therapy practice

I am a professionally qualified, accredited therapist offering a confidential, non-judgemental counselling service for young people and adults.

I offer space and time to explore issues or problems and help you find new ways to live your life more effectively.

In addition to working with people experiencing anxiety, low-mood, bereavement, and loss, my practice is psychosexually informed, and I work with people experiencing sexual issues. I am also experienced in working with people who have suffered trauma; those with suicidal thoughts; and those who self-harm.

My experience has been gained working in private practice, in the public sector (Belfast Trust), in the voluntary sector (community counselling service), and in education.

Also, having had a successful 30-year career in a private sector profession, I am positioned to understand, and provide counselling for, the stresses and psychological impacts of a busy career.

Practice description

The aim of my practice is to help clients find resources to cope with issues and to identify, understand and resolve any underlying causes.

I am an integrative, pluralistic therapist. This means that I work with clients to determine what the best approach is for them in resolving their issues, using a broad range of therapies.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP accredited therapist.

In addition to a BSc. in Counselling and Psychotherapy, I hold (post-grad) Professional Certificates in Online and Telephone Counselling; Relationship Therapy (Level 6); Psychosexual Therapy (Level 7); and Clinical Supervision including Online (Level 6).

I work in private practice with individuals (16+) and relationships and can provide supervision for therapists working with both or either client groups.

In addition to working with clients experiencing anxiety, low-mood, bereavement, and loss, my practice is psychosexually informed, and I work with people experiencing sexual issues. I am also experienced in working with people who have suffered trauma; those with suicidal thoughts; and those who self-harm.

Having gained experience in the voluntary sector (community counselling in an area with high levels of self-harm, suicide, and substance misuse); the public sector (Belfast Health and Social Care Trust - Trauma Centre); the education sector (school's counselling), and Employee Assistance Programmes, I established a private practice, which is now the core focus of my work.

Also, having had a successful 30-year career in a private sector profession, I am positioned to understand the stresses and psychological impacts of a busy career.

Practice description

I believe that supportive collaborative supervision is a cornerstone of ethical practice.

As an integrative, pluralistic therapist with a humanistic basis, I believe that a strong relationship between therapist and supervisor enables the growth and development of both you and your practice.

To ensure that supervision is effective for your practice, in whatever setting you work, I will work with you to determine what the best approach is for you, often using the seven-mode model to help us be curious and explore.

I am happy to work with both therapists in training and qualified therapists.

My first session

As mentioned earlier, the relationship between you and your supervisor is important. That is why, I offer the first consultation of 60 minutes free of charge. This will enable you to determine if I am the right fit for both you and your clients.

If this is something you would like to discuss, please feel free to give me a call or drop me an email.
