About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Child Counsellor, with experience supporting individuals aged 7 to 22. My approach focusses on using unconditional positive regard, flexibility and delivering a non-judgment environment. I draw from a range of therepeutic models to meet each young person where they are developmentally, emotionally, and expressively.
Practice description
My practice is rooted in the use of arts and play, as primary modes of communication, particularly with children and those who find it hard to articulate their inner world through words alone. Through creative mediums, I support clients to safely explore emotions, process experiences and develop self-awareness. I work with a strong inclusion and phenomenological focus, meaning, I am attentive to each individuals lived experience, identity and sense of meaning, ensuring they feel seen, respected and understood within their unique context.
My first session
My first session will be an introduction to the space and what to expect. This will normally be with the parents to ensure the child or young person feels comfortable. Usually, the parents stay in their car, on site, initially, or until I am confident that the child has settled into the alliance.
The child will be introduced to sensory toys, art materials, the use of a sand tray and invited to explore the space freely.
