About me and my therapy practice
I work with people when life feels difficult to navigate, offering a safe and compassionate space to understand what they are going through, reconnect with themselves and move towards meaningful change.
I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, with more than 25 years’ experience across NHS, hospice, cancer care, EAP, trauma and private-practice settings. I have extensive experience supporting adults through some of the most challenging periods of their lives, including significant life changes, childhood trauma and abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, bereavement, living with cancer or HIV, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression and loss of purpose or meaning.
My approach is relational, experiential and trauma-informed. I draw from Person-Centred, CBT, Psychodynamic, Attachment, Transpersonal, Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused approaches, adapting therapy to the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit one particular model.
I believe therapy begins with feeling genuinely heard and understood. I aim to offer a warm, non-judgemental and collaborative space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace, develop greater self-awareness, find ways of coping with current difficulties and discover new possibilities for moving forward.
Alongside my therapy practice, I provide clinical supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists, supporting them to reflect on their client work, develop their professional practice, explore ethical and clinical issues, and make meaningful connections between theory and practice.
My intention is to offer a grounded and compassionate presence, helping clients and supervisees develop greater clarity, confidence and choice.
Practice description
I offer a warm, compassionate and confidential space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted without judgement. Sometimes life can leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from ourselves or unsure of how to move forward. Therapy can offer an opportunity to pause, make sense of what you are experiencing and reconnect with who you are.
As a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I work collaboratively and intuitively, drawing from Person-Centred, CBT, Psychodynamic, Transpersonal and Attachment approaches. I tailor therapy to you, recognising that no two people or experiences are the same.
I support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, trauma, relationship difficulties, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, identity and sexuality concerns, addiction, chronic illness and feelings of losing purpose or meaning in life.
Together, we can gently explore the connections between your past and present, develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, and find ways to create meaningful and lasting change.
You don't have to have everything figured out before you begin. Therapy can be a place to start.
My first session
Our first session is a free 30-minute initial session and an opportunity for us to meet, talk about what has brought you to therapy and begin to think about what you would like support with.
I will gently explore what you have been experiencing, what may be impacting you at present, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Where relevant, we may also explore aspects of your past experiences, family history, relationships, emotional wellbeing and current circumstances, as these can help us develop a fuller understanding of what you are going through.
We will also consider how you have been coping, your support network and any areas that may be affecting your wellbeing, such as sleep, appetite and mood. Where appropriate, I will sensitively ask about your safety and any history of self-harm or suicidal thoughts, as part of ensuring that you receive the right support.
I will explain how I work, discuss my fees and what you can expect from our therapeutic relationship. Most importantly, the first session gives you the opportunity to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me and whether I am the right therapist for you. It also allows me to consider whether I am able to offer the appropriate support for your needs.
There is no expectation that you have everything worked out before coming to therapy. We can begin wherever you are.
