About me and my therapy practice
Welcome – I’m Maxine Robertson, a psychotherapist working with women navigating change.
If you’re a woman at a crossroads in life or work you may find yourself wondering, “what now?”. Something inside is nudging you towards a next chapter that feels more meaningful or aligned with who you are now.
I specialise in working with women in the second half of life who are contemplating change – career shifts, scaling back from demanding roles, preparing for retirement or reshaping life after children have left home. Together we can clarify what you want this next chapter to look like and support you to take values aligned action.
My approach is not just about goal setting for the future but also looks at what’s going on under the surface such as understanding shifts in identity, why your life feels different, understanding patterns of behaviour, hidden fears, inner conflict and questions emotions and meanings
Before training as a psychotherapist, I made major pivots in my own life including career changes, periods of being a stay at home mum and then adjusting to an empty nest. I know what it’s like to reimagine your life and step into something new. I’ve lived these transitions myself.
If you would like my support, please do get in touch
Practice description
What will we do in our sessions?
1. Clarify you as a person, exploring your skills, talents, personal qualities and values.
2. Review your life - looking at lifestyle, relationships, work, health - identifying what drains and what nourishes. We will touch on the past as the past shapes us.
3. Look beneath the surface to address unconscious patterns, limiting beliefs and the driving force behind your emotions.
3. Clarify what you want - examining possibilities for the future - new projects, hobbies, roles, work direction and ways of living.
4. Support shift through regular sessions, trying things out, adjusting and building confidence.
