About me and my therapy practice

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read through my profile. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take much courage and energy and I would like to make the process as comfortable and effective as possible for you.

I am qualified in Psychotherapeutic Counselling to post graduate level PG(DIP) BA(HONS) and licensed with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) in the UK; with over 10 years experience working as a therapist, in a hospice, a wellbeing clinic, domestic abuse services and in private practice. I help people who are experiencing difficulties with their relationships, the impact of trauma, domestic abuse, anxiety and self-doubt, grief and loss, & parenting issues.

My journey as a therapist began when I was working as a participatory artist with groups of people in community, education and health settings. Often during workshops, as participants accessed their creative flow, they would also feel comfortable and safe enough to share their thoughts and feelings, and it became my goal to respond and support in the best possible way. I also experienced counselling for myself, and felt that it was a revelation to be listened to, without judgement, and be heard with genuine compassion, understanding and empathy by my therapist; all of this inspired me to study and train to be a therapist myself.

Working alongside my clients I aim to create a confidential, open, understanding, non judgemental space, where complicated thoughts and feelings can be shared and explored.

Practice description

My therapeutic approach is integrative; I work from a Person Centered base, integrating elements of different therapeutic resources, including Attachment Theory, Trauma Informed Practice, Mindfulness, CBT, Creative Arts and the Outdoor Environment.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I work in accordance with the Ethical Framework and have regular supervision to ensure best practice.

My belief and experience is that therapy gives us the opportunity to unravel and make sense of confusing and complicated thoughts and feelings - this creates a positive impact on our emotional, physical and spiritual well being and allows us to move forward in our lives with increased reslience, awareness, self-care and emotional regulation.

When I am away from work I focus on my own self care; I enjoy spending time with family and friends and love to practice yoga, qigong and take walks in places of natural beauty.

You are very welcome to get in touch and ask any questions you may have. I offer therapy online throughout the UK, via video, phone, or text, and walk and talk sessions in Staffordshire and Cheshire areas.
