About me and my therapy practice

Thank you for looking at my profile. My aim is to offer you a friendly, welcoming and non-judgmental space where we can talk and explore your thoughts and feelings together.

Therapy can help to make sense of things and move towards change. It is an opportunity to get to know and understand yourself better, recognise potenially unhelpful patterns of behaviour or thoughts and try out different ways of doing things. I will support you to gain a better understanding of how past experiences or concerns about the future may be affecting you in the present.

I have experience working with a range of issues related to anxiety, low self-esteem or confidence, low mood, and difficulties in relationships with partners, friends, colleagues and family.

I am particularly interested in supporting people to alleviate the difficult feelings and suffering brought on by negative self-talk or stubborn inner critics. I work with people to become more aware of these parts; to understand what drives them and where come from; to notice how the way we talk to ourselves affects our feelings, and to foster a more compassionate inner voice that can be motivating without being punishing.

If you are interested and feel comfortable with it, I can introduce grounding and breathing exercises into sessions, which can help to reduce symptoms of anxiety, ruminating thoughts, overwhelm and other difficult feelings.

Practice description

I offer sessions on a weekly basis, either in person or online. They are generally on the same day and time each week. I can offer sessions on a long or short term basis depending on individual needs. As everybody is different I am flexible in the way that I work to make sure that it is supportive for the individual. I view the work very much as a collaboration between us and regulary check in with clients to make sure that we are on the same page and that they are getting what they need from sessions.

For some people it can be helpful to use more creative ways of working such as drawing, writing, or working with objects. I can introduce this into the work with people who are interested and comfortable in doing so. However I recognise that this does not feel right for everybody and I also regularly work with people solely via talking therapy.

My first session

I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is very important. Therefore I offer a free online 30 minute introductory session, or if you prefer to meet in person I just charge £15 to cover the cost of the room.

Introductory session are an opportunity for us to meet, for you to ask any questions you have, and for me to find out a bit more about you and what you are looking for from counselling. Then we can decide together whether I am the right counsellor for you at the moment.
