About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Dawn — a qualified integrative psycho-spiritual counsellor based in Chippenham. I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space for adults who may be feeling anxious, stressed or overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, disconnected from themselves, or unsure of their next steps.
I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for support. So my aim is to create a calm and compassionate environment where we work together for you to feel that you can slow down enough to explore what is present for you, at a pace that feels right for you.
My approach is holistic and integrative, supporting emotional wellbeing and growth while also recognising how experiences live somatically (in the body). Alongside traditional talking therapy, I may gently incorporate somatic awareness, mindfulness or guided visualisation where appropriate.
I support clients with issues ranging from anxiety and overwhelm, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, past trauma or difficult experiences, life transitions, grief and loss, relationship challenges, self-limiting beliefs, people-pleasing patterns, boundary difficulties to feeling disconnected or lost.
I support clients to better understand their emotional world, develop self-compassion, work with long-held self-limiting patterns, and feel more grounded and connected to themselves. You don’t need to arrive with clear answers - we begin wherever you are.
Over time, my therapeutic work has evolved to include deeper mind–body-soul awareness alongside professional counselling practice. This reflects my deeper calling as a modern medicine woman and the belief that healing happens when we feel safe enough to reconnect with our inner resources and wisdom because they are always there - but sometimes remain unknown.
My work is best suited to those who are open to gentle self-exploration and a holistic approach. If I’m not the right fit, I will always aim to support you in finding appropriate alternatives.
Practice description
My practice offers a calm and contained space for adults seeking emotional support, reflection and personal growth. Sessions are client-led, trauma-informed and shaped around your individual needs, allowing space to explore experiences gently and with care.
I believe that the mind, body and soul are all interconnected and therefore, the sessions can incorporate various approaches such as a shamanic journey to gain insight, guidance and inner healing; mindfulness and body awareness for reconnection and to support emotional regulation, insight and traditional talking therapy to increase self-awareness and empowerment. Combined, these approaches help to create a wonderful and holistic way of working because we are so much more than just our thoughts!
Clients can expect a warm, respectful and collaborative therapeutic relationship, where they are listened to without judgement and supported to explore thoughts, feelings and patterns at a manageable pace. My aim is to help you develop greater self-awareness, self-compassion and emotional resilience.
My approach is gentle and reflective. It may not suit those seeking quick fixes, advice-giving or highly structured interventions. Instead, I support clients who are open to self-exploration and a holistic way of working.
A 15 minutes FREE initial phone conversation is offered to help clients decide whether working together feels right.
I am fully insured, DBS checked and emergency first aid trained.
I work from home in a purpose built cabin in the back garden. There are about 6 low level steps up to the cabin so please bear this in mind if you have any mobility issues.
My first session
In the first session, we will go through the initial consultation paperwork together. We will also cover practicalities such as preferred frequency of sessions/days/times etc. This is an ideal opportunity for you to ask any questions that you might have about how I work, what to expect etc. Then the rest of the session will enable us to gently start our work together.
At the end of the session there is no obligation for you to return if you do not wish to; I appreciate that many people like to meet with several therapists before settling on the one they feel is right for them.
However, if you would like to continue working with me we can go on to book a second session together.
