About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified counselling psychologist registered with the HCPC. Additionally, I am also registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and BPS.

With over sixteen years of professional experience, I have had the privilege of working with individual clients and families across different ages, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds. I have supported people with a wide range of mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, and complex PTSD (cPTSD), as well as neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and Asperger’s syndrome. I have also worked with clients who have experienced discrimination, disempowerment, or abuse, providing a safe and supportive space to rebuild confidence and trust.

As someone from a South Asian background, I understand the unique challenges that can arise when navigating cultural identity, family obligations, and mental health. I offer therapy that is affirming, relational, and culturally aware — grounded in deep respect for both individuality and the communities we come from. You don’t have to explain what terms like “saving face” or “intergenerational expectations” mean; I understand these nuances and the impact they can have on self-expression and emotional wellbeing.

Whether you’re balancing two cultures, navigating family pressures, or trying to find your voice, I’m here to support you. At the heart of my work is a commitment to creating a relationship where you feel safe, heard, and understood. I am culturally sensitive, open-minded, and inclusive in my practice.

In addition to English, I also speak Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, allowing clients to express themselves in the language they feel most comfortable with.

Practice description

I have worked extensively with clients experiencing difficulties related to identity, autonomy, and cultural pressures, as well as those facing generational conflict affecting their quality of life, relationships, and sense of control. I recognise that seeking therapy can feel unfamiliar or even taboo in some communities. My approach is compassionate, grounded, and culturally sensitive — offering a space where you can explore your inner world without fear of judgment, shame, or the need to explain your culture.

Clients often come to me to work through:

• Anxiety, overthinking, and burnout

• Depression or emotional numbness

• Cultural and family expectations

• Low self-worth or imposter syndrome

• Intergenerational trauma and identity conflict

At times, it can be confusing and frustrating when our emotions don’t make sense. You may feel empty, lost, or find yourself struggling with big changes, relationship difficulties, or simply feeling stuck and overwhelmed. I offer a calm, safe space where we can explore what has brought you to seek counselling and find clarity together. My approach is authentic, warm, and inclusive, helping to create a supportive and non-judgemental environment.

Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you’ve had support before and wish to revisit certain issues, I understand that taking this step can feel daunting. To help you decide if therapy feels right for you, I offer a free 30-minute phone consultation. I provide both in-person and online sessions, offering flexibility and comfort to suit your needs.

My core intention is to build a supportive therapeutic relationship that promotes wellbeing and healing. As an integrative counsellor, I draw from relational psychodynamic therapy and CBT, offering a space to explore and work through the struggles and challenges you may be facing. I also integrate person-centred and mindfulness-based approaches, always tailoring the process to your unique background and lived experience.

About me and my therapy practice

With over sixteen years of professional experience, I have had the privilege of working with clients from diverse backgrounds — particularly those navigating the complexities of identity, belonging, and emotional wellbeing in cross-cultural contexts. I offer therapy that is affirming, relational, and culturally aware, grounded in respect for both individuality and the communities we come from.

It can be confusing and frustrating when our emotions don’t make sense or when we feel stuck and overwhelmed. You might feel lost or unsure about how to move forward. Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you’re returning after previous support, I offer a warm, safe space where you can feel truly heard and understood as we gently explore what’s been happening and begin to find clarity, balance, and calm together.

My approach is collaborative and reflective, helping you make sense of your inner world and life experiences so you can move toward greater self-understanding and choice. At the heart of my practice is a commitment to building a relationship where you feel safe, heard, and understood. I work in a culturally sensitive and open-minded way, creating an inclusive space where every experience is welcomed and valued.

Practice description

I specialise in using various modalities, including CBT, mindfulness, and relational approaches, always tailoring therapy to each client’s unique background and lived experience. My work involves thoughtful assessment and treatment formulation, leading to effective, evidence-based interventions and ongoing evaluation — all within clear professional standards and boundaries.

I recognise that seeking therapy can sometimes feel unfamiliar or even taboo in certain communities. My approach is compassionate, grounded, and culturally sensitive, offering a space where you can explore your inner world without fear of judgment or shame, and without needing to explain the balance between cultures.

I work with clients experiencing anxiety or trauma related to relationships, family, work, or past experiences, including those managing challenges linked to ADHD. In our early sessions, we’ll explore underlying issues and create a plan that feels manageable and supportive. Many clients begin to feel lighter and more in control within the first few months, with steady and lasting progress over time.

I also specialise in supporting clients from South Asian backgrounds who experience difficulties related to identity, autonomy, and the pressures of cultural or religious expectations. I understand the unique challenges that can arise when navigating cultural identity, family obligations, and mental health, and I aim to provide an inclusive, understanding space where all aspects of your experience are respected and valued.

The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.
