About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, with extensive experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds presenting with a wide range of psychological difficulties.
My approach is integrative, drawing on multiple therapeutic models and interventions to ensure that treatment is responsive to the individual needs of each client. I have worked with clients presenting with complex and multifaceted issues, including depression, anxiety disorders, stress-related difficulties, substance misuse, domestic abuse, relationship problems, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, adjustment to life changes, suicidal ideation, issues relating to sexuality, and work-related stress.
My role is to provide a structured and supportive therapeutic space in which clients can identify, explore, and gain clarity around their difficulties. Through this process, clients are supported in developing increased self-awareness, gaining insight into the impact of past and present experiences, and working towards resolving internal conflicts and developing more adaptive ways of functioning.
My professional experience includes working within NHS drug and alcohol services in Southwest London, supporting individuals affected by substance misuse. I have also worked in educational settings with parents facing complex psychosocial challenges, and at Place2Be, where I provided therapeutic interventions to primary school-aged children. Additionally, I volunteered with Cruse Bereavement Care, supporting individuals who were experiencing bereavement.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and practise in accordance with its Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I am committed to ongoing continuing professional development (CPD), am fully insured, and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
Practice description
My role is to listen carefully and develop a thorough understanding of your needs. I aim to provide the appropriate therapeutic conditions in which a collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationship can be established, allowing you to explore thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental and confidential environment. Having a safe, consistent space and dedicated time can support you in working through difficulties at your own pace.
Considering therapy for the first time can feel daunting, and it is common to experience apprehension when entering an unfamiliar process. Seeking support represents an important first step towards understanding and addressing your difficulties.
I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy, and we will discuss together which approach is most appropriate for your individual needs and circumstances.
My first session
During the initial appointment, we will discuss your current concerns, and I will ask you questions to gain an understanding of what has led you to seek therapy and what you hope to gain from the process. We will begin to explore the history and context of the difficulties you are experiencing. This session also provides an opportunity to consider whether we can work together therapeutically and how future sessions may be structured.
It is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist, and there is no obligation to continue beyond the initial session. You will also be invited to consider whether you are able to commit to regular attendance and active engagement in the therapeutic process.
Following the initial assessment, sessions are 50 minutes in duration and usually take place at the same time and on the same day each week.
