Availability

I offer counselling via Zoom, allowing you to access support from a space where you feel comfortable, without the need to travel to/from a therapy room. This not only saves on journey time but also offers greater flexibility around appointment times and session frequency.

I currently have morning, afternoon and evening appointments available.

Depending on availability, sessions may be offered in the morning, afternoon or evening and can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. The pace and frequency of our work will be guided by your needs and preferences.

Pricing and your first session

I offer a no-obligation introductory session for £40. This gives you the opportunity to meet me, talk about what is happening for you and discuss what you would like from counselling.

I’ll explain how I work and answer any questions you may have, giving you the opportunity to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. There is no pressure or obligation to continue.

If you choose to continue, subsequent sessions are £50.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Dawn.

Are you finding life difficult at the moment? Perhaps you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed or low, struggling with relationships, family work, college or university, or dealing with health concerns, fertility difficulties or caring responsibilities.

You may feel lost, disconnected, stuck, alone, or uncertain about where your life is heading. Perhaps you’re questioning your identity or sense of purpose, or finding it difficult to manage thoughts, feelings, worries or fears on your own. Or perhaps you simply feel that life has become harder to manage than it once did.

I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever you are experiencing. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood and accepted, while giving you the time and space to explore what is happening for you and what you might like to change.

I have supported people through many challenges including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, low mood, OCD, grief and bereavement, plus relationship issues and family difficulties. I have also supported people experiencing study and work-related stress, infertility, menopause, and the challenges that can come with aging. Alongside this, I have worked with people caring for loved ones, with the rewards and pressures that can bring.

Please see ‘What I can help with’ below for more information of the concerns I can support you with.

Everyone’s experience is different, so I take time to understand you as an individual and tailor my approach to your circumstances, needs and what you hope to gain from counselling.

You don’t need to know exactly what you want to talk about before starting counselling. You may simply know that you’re struggling and would like some support. We can begin with whatever feels most important to you and take things from there, at your own pace.

Where appropriate, I also incorporate CBT tools to help you explore difficult thoughts, feelings and patterns, and develop practical ways of managing them.

Practice description

HOW I WORK

As a person-centred counsellor, I believe you are the expert in your own life. You know your experiences, feelings and circumstances better than anyone else. My role is to listen with care, curiosity and without judgement, taking the time to understand things from your perspective.

Together, we can gently explore what is troubling you and make sense of what matters to you. This may involve understanding difficult emotions, exploring patterns of thinking or behaviour, making sense of past experiences, or finding new ways to cope with challenges in the present.

I place great importance on building a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, respected, accepted and safe. I don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Instead, our work will be shaped around you, your circumstances and what you need from counselling, at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable.

My first session

A safe space to be yourself

I understand that contacting a counsellor can feel daunting. Talking to someone you don’t know about personal or difficult experiences isn’t always easy.

I aim to create a relaxed and welcoming environment where you can be yourself. You don’t need to have everything worked out or find the ‘right’ words. We can simply start with what feels comfortable for you.
