Therapist - Oban

Oban PA34
07970592778
Sessions from £55.00

Features

  • Flexible hours available

Availability

As I am often in sessions with clients, the best way to contact me is via the contact message form here or on my website (I aim to respond to you within 2 hours) or call my office during usual office hours.

Phone messages left on Saturday, or between 5 pm to 8 pm weekdays, will be picked up first thing the next working day.

Please note that I never respond to sales or 'promote your practice' cold calls.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced, friendly and compassionate Psychotherapist and Counsellor with 29 years and over 20,000 hours of experience. I offer Psychodynamic Counselling and Transactional Analysis Therapy online. While many of my clients are Medical Health Professionals and Students, my clients do come from all walks of life.

If you are struggling in relationships, including the quality of your relationship with yourself, for example, internal anger, shame or anxiety, I have long familiarity in helping with these challenges. If you are stuck in revolving experiences, suffering from short or long term traumatic experiences, or recovering from abuse in its many forms, I believe I can assist.

I was the Director and senior therapist at the Liverpool Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy from 1997, managing a team of ten counsellors and therapists. Having passed the business on to new owners in 2018, I have been working online for eight years.

The way I work is to tailor sessions and my therapeutic approach to your individual needs; I do not adhere to a 'one size fits all' philosophy.

I am always happy to answer questions about the sometimes-bewildering array of training and qualifications that counsellors have, with no obligation to use my services.

Practice description

Having worked within a team for twenty-one years, I now am a solo practitioner working online from my detached office, separate from my home, so confidentiality is maintained. I am always happy to discuss what options are best for you. I can be flexible to accommodate clients who have busy lives, varying commitments (I specialise in treating Doctors and am used to working around their shifts), or live abroad.

Throughout my time as a psychotherapist and counsellor, I have worked hard to understand people from a real perspective, not just from a textbook one. I don't believe I can help someone without first really tuning in to who they are, properly listening to what they have to say, and understanding how they see themselves and their world.

In my time as the Director of the Liverpool Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I developed it from a single room practice into one of the most successful private counselling and psychotherapy services on Merseyside. I still adhere to this philosophy of professionalism, integrity and client-focused service that made us so in demand.

I am a Member of the BACP, Number 376754 and adhere to their code of professional ethics.

See my website for more background on how I work and my Therapy Blog, including Five Things to Look for in an Online Therapist.

My first session

I provide an initial session free of charge; my view is that people should not have to pay while trying to find the best fit for their needs.

Our first talk will be an opportunity to discover more about your challenges, goals and how I can assist you in overcoming the first and achieving the latter.

No initial talk I have had with a client has ever been the same as all the others, but there are common themes, finding about you and what has bought you to book an appointment, your background and your wants and needs from talking therapy. I often use standard questionnaires but not always. I will respectfully ask questions as needed to further explore your needs; however, I am very aware and used to people working at their own speed.

We can then decide together if I have the necessary experience and the right outlook to assist you. There is no obligation to book a minimum number of sessions, and I will always try to work with you to achieve a positive direction from our first talk.

What I can help with

Abuse, Anxiety, Child related issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Loss, Obsessions, OCD, Post-traumatic stress, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Stress, Trauma, Work related issues
