About me and my therapy practice

ONLINE THERAPY

Hello, I'm Heidi – a fully qualified and accredited, down-to-earth, integrative therapist, which means I incorporate ideas from different therapeutic approaches. I am based online and work with clients from all over the UK.

I've been working as a therapist since March 2017, and have a varied client base, providing therapeutic counselling to people identifying within the generation X, Millennial and Gen Z communities. I greatly value difference and am LGBTQ+ affirming.

Maybe you feel highly anxious, constantly on edge and are becoming increasingly triggered. Or perhaps you feel depressed, have lost interest in life and feel disconnected from the world around you. As a therapist I'm passionate about supporting you to better understand what's going on in your life, so that you can make positive changes and improve your quality of life. We'll work together to increase your self-awareness, nurture self-acceptance and develop self-compassion, so that you can find a way to heal and grow.

I'm a trauma-informed therapist with experience working with adult survivors of childhood trauma and survivors of sexual violence. I can help you understand trauma, deal with triggers and better manage feelings of anxiety, depression, anger and overwhelm.

I am also trained to deliver Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a powerful psychological treatment used to help process traumatic and adverse experiences that are thought to have been ‘locked’ in our bodies. It can be used to treat PTSD/trauma symptoms, and also issues that are not necessarily trauma-related, such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship breakdown, loss of identity, low self-esteem, or performance anxiety.

Please get in touch with me for EMDR fees and and more information about sessions. The best way to do so is via email.

About me and my therapy practice

ONLINE

I have trained as an EMDR therapist (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing) and am a member of EMDR Association UK.

EMDR is not a traditional talk therapy; it is an 8-phase structured therapeutic technique used to help process specific memories and difficulties associated with adverse lived experiences.

EMDR can be used for single event trauma, e.g. road traffic accident, house fire or assault, or for more complex trauma such as childhood abuse, repeated violence and trauma associated with the armed forces and first responders. EMDR is quite flexible and can be applied to other issues, including depression, phobias and anxiety.

My therapeutic approach utilises trauma-informed theories, e.g. Polyvagal theory, Somatic theory. It takes into account the complex relationship between mind and body, and how traumatic and negative experiences are stored in both our brain and body.

Practice description

Using EMDR, I offer you the opportunity to work on, and recover from distressing and adverse life experiences/events. We will work collaboratively to identify your aims and expectations, build resources and develop stabilising/grounding tools.

I am also trained in the use of the EMDR Flash technique which is a method that helps to reduce the sensitivity of painful memories.

The number and length of sessions will depend on the type and severity of trauma which has been experienced.

COSTS:

EMDR remote sessions £60 (1 hr)

Practice description

My counselling approach is integrative, incorporating person-centred, psychodynamic concepts and attachment theory, though I also work creatively and intuitively within the moment.

We'll take a therapy journey that is unique to you and explore the paths that may have brought you to your current point in life. Within sessions, we can unravel old behaviours and thought patterns that are causing you distress, and work to reunite you with parts of yourself that may have felt lost or hidden.

I'm an Accredited Registered Member of the BACP and I work within their Ethical Framework.

I am also a member of EMDR Association UK.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a CPCAB Level 6 therapeutic counselling supervisor, working online to offer a space for meaningful and reflective discussion about your client work, whilst also supporting your professional and personal development. My approach is grounded in the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision, providing a collaborative, reflective, curious and relational experience. I also incorporate the Working Within Diversity model into the work.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, primarily drawing on person-centred and psychodynamic therapy. I am trauma-informed in my practice and have completed training in EMDR therapy, which informs my understanding of trauma and its impact.

I have been qualified as a therapist for over 8 years. Alongside my private practice, I have extensive experience supporting survivors of sexual violence and abuse after working with Manchester Rape Crisis for 4 years. I have also worked for Employee Assistance Programmes, a low-cost counselling service and for the charity Blue Light Minds, which provides therapy to frontline workers. My experience as a therapist spans both short-term and long-term work, delivered face-to-face and remotely. This means that as a counselling supervisor, I understand different therapeutic contexts and settings.

I qualified as an online supervisor this year, and have experience working with trainee counsellors through to qualified and experienced counsellors. If we work together, I will encourage and support you in developing your clinical insight, confidence, and professional identity, while maintaining a strong focus on client well-being and safe, ethical practice.

We would co-create a supervision space that feels encouraging, supportive, challenging, insightful, curious and creative, where you feel brave enough to share whatever you need to share without fear of judgment.
