About me and my therapy practice

Life can look calm on the outside, yet feel very different on the inside. You might be carrying anxiety, stress, low mood or grief, or finding that relationships or work feel increasingly difficult. Perhaps you’ve started noticing patterns in yourself that you want to understand, but aren’t sure where to begin.

Reaching out for counselling often happens at a point when life feels heavy or confusing. You don’t need to have the right words — only a sense that something doesn’t feel quite right and that you’d like a safe, private space to talk.

My name is Lorna Livingston, and I am a BACP-registered psychodynamic counsellor. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental and accepting space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace. My aim is to help you feel truly heard and to gain a deeper understanding of what is happening for you — something many clients find profoundly healing in itself.

Practice description

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties and work-related pressures. I have a particular interest in supporting people navigating the emotional impact of demanding careers, feelings of not being recognised, work-life imbalance and the strain this can place on relationships and self-esteem.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent 15 years working in financial markets in the City of London, and I understand first-hand the pressures of corporate life. Since qualifying, I have worked within the NHS, in private practice and in educational settings. I also have experience working with eating disorders, men’s issues, pregnancy and baby loss, separation and trauma.

My work is informed by attachment-based and psychodynamic approaches, which explore how early relationships and life experiences can shape the way we feel, cope and relate as adults. Together, we may look at both your past and present to help you better understand patterns that feel stuck and create space for meaningful change.

My first session

Finding the right therapist is an important decision. To support this, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, get a sense of how I work and see whether we might be a good fit.

In our first full session, we will explore what has brought you to counselling, your background and what you hope to gain from therapy. We will also discuss practical arrangements and whether you are looking for short- or longer-term work, which we can review together over time.

I work both in person in North Norfolk, in Dulwich London and online across the UK.
