About me and my therapy practice

Anxiety ?

Low mood  ?

Overwhelm ?

Feeling stuck  ?

Relationship difficulties or a breakup ?

Trouble at work ?

Empty-nesting ?

Bereavement ?

These are just some of the challenges that life throws at us.

We can’t always control what happens to us but we can try to find agency to determine how we respond to our circumstances.

Therapy is a place to start this process.

I offer a free initial consultation via phone/zoom to give you an idea of what it would be like working with me. No obligation to book further sessions.

In a time of crisis or upset, therapy is a deep-dive conversation about your life.  It helps you reflect, think and feel again and get back in the driving seat.

As a BACP Registered Therapist with 10 yrs experience I offer a professional, warm relationship. I am trained in psychotherapy to work with you to gain an increased understanding of yourself, your experiences and background and how this links to your present difficulties.  If appropriate we can do some breathe work and check out how you sense your difficulties in your body as well as in your mind through reflection and talking.

How does all this work or how do you find the right therapist ? Please feel free to get in touch and ask any questions you have.

You may only need or want a few sessions to get moving again.
A free initial consultation is a good way to take the first step, to explore what brings you to therapy.  If we are a good fit, you can then book an initial 50 minute consultation and take it from there.

I offer short-term work (6-12 sessions) or longer term work - we can agree at the start and review regularly.

Practice description

I work with clients experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, juggling family, life and work.  I have worked a lot with bereaved clients who need a place to process the chaos of grief and honour a significant loss. Some of my clients are going through significant life transitions, eg starting a family, divorce, separation or retirement.

Time spent in therapy provides a place to decompress, reassess and reset.

I am trained to listen carefully to your story, to understand where you are, what has brought you here and where you would like to be.

Our present resonates with our past and in the therapeutic process you will probably become more aware of this which can be helpful to make the changes you want to make.

My role is to work sensitively and attentively alongside you -  with my training and experience to reflect back what I pick up and we work on this together.

The aim is to help you gain a better understanding of and relationship with yourself, the people in your life and the world around you.

My training and experience.  I first trained over a period of 5 years and qualified in London with a Professional Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling. I am now studying for a Masters Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice in Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Integrative Therapeutic Counselling simply means that I have trained, studied and draw on a range of psychotherapeutic theories, which address the whole person, body mind and soul.

I have 10 years experience working in an NHS Counselling Service and Private Practice. I work with anxiety, life transitions, bereavement, low mood, difficulties at work and in family and relationships.

Professional Standards and Accountability - I have regular supervision to ensure I work to the required professional standards. I abide by the BACP Code of Ethics and Practice and maintain my ongoing training and professional development.

My first session

During this first session we look at what has brought you to therapy.
This first session is your opportunity to share in more depth why you are seeking therapy and why now.

You can ask any questions you may have and to check out what it would be like working with me.

I will ask some questions to help understand and clarify what is going on for you.

It may help to jot down some thoughts beforehand and after the session aswell. We can look at what you would like to get from this process and what time frame you have available.

If you would like to proceed and book further sessions, we will agree when to meet on a more regular basis.

We will look at your resources both time and financial as therapy is quite a commitment  -  what is affordable for you and review regularly.

Sometimes a few sessions is a good place to start and take it from there.
