About me and my therapy practice
Starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly if you're used to carrying things on your own or are unsure where to begin. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, I aim to offer a space where you can slow down, make sense of your experiences and feel genuinely heard.
My style is warm, collaborative and naturally curious. I believe that feeling understood is an important part of therapy and that meaningful change often comes from gently exploring the patterns that may be keeping us stuck. Clients often tell me they appreciate the balance between feeling listened to and being thoughtfully challenged. My aim is not only to help you feel understood, but also to help you understand yourself in new ways.
Rather than offering quick solutions or telling you what to do, I work alongside you to explore the connections between your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and relationships. Sometimes this involves making sense of how anxiety, stress, grief or past experiences continue to influence your life today. At other times, it may simply be about creating enough space to reflect on what really matters to you.
I believe that lasting change rarely happens overnight. Instead, it often develops through greater self-awareness, self-compassion and small, realistic changes that gradually become part of everyday life.
Practice description
My practice is informed by an integrative approach, meaning I draw upon different therapeutic ideas to meet your individual needs rather than working from one fixed model. Every person brings a unique story, and I believe therapy should be equally individual.
Alongside my private practice, I work as a bilingual counsellor within the Mental Health Support Team at the University of Manchester, where I support a diverse student population, including many international students. I have also worked within NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT), community mental health services and charities, supporting adults and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism, procrastination, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, family conflict, grief, life transitions and emotional regulation difficulties. Many people I meet feel overwhelmed by uncertainty, caught in cycles of overthinking or unsure how to move forward despite wanting things to change.
As a bilingual counsellor fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, I have a particular interest in supporting Chinese-speaking clients and those navigating different cultures. Living between cultures can bring unique challenges around identity, family expectations, belonging and communication. I understand these experiences both professionally and culturally and aim to provide a space where clients feel understood without having to explain every aspect of their background.
Where helpful, I also integrate psychological understanding into our conversations, helping clients make sense of anxiety, emotional regulation, attachment, grief and relationship patterns in ways that are practical, relatable and relevant to their everyday lives.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute online consultation before arranging our first appointment. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you’re hoping for, and what you might be looking for from a therapeutic relationship. It is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work and for us to consider whether we feel we are a good fit to work together.
Our first full session isn't about trying to tell your entire life story or covering everything at once. Instead, we'll begin by exploring what's happening for you now, what feels most important, and what you would like to gain from counselling. We can begin to make sense of your experiences together and think about what may be helpful to explore further.
You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions about confidentiality, the counselling process, or how I work.
You don't need to have clear answers or know exactly where to begin. Many people come to counselling feeling overwhelmed, confused or uncertain, and that's completely okay. We'll work together at a pace that feels manageable, developing a shared understanding of your experiences and the patterns that may be affecting you, while considering what changes may be helpful.

About me and my therapy practice
You may be a trainee counsellor, newly qualified practitioner or experienced therapist working in higher education, Talking Therapies, third-sector or community services.
You may support young adults, international students or clients presenting with increasing complexity, while balancing organisational demands, clinical risk and your own professional development.
You may also be a counselling service manager balancing a clinical caseload with leadership responsibilities, ethical and professional dilemmas, and the needs of your team.
I am an Integrative and Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) Clinical Supervisor, with extensive experience in short-term work with adults, young people, university and international students. I currently practise at the University of Manchester and have held senior clinical supervision and counselling service leadership roles, giving me insight into both the therapeutic and organisational realities of practice.
I offer individual supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors, therapists, and practitioners working in mental health and wellbeing roles. My approach is integrative, relational and reflective, drawing on person-centred experiential principles and the Seven-Eyed Model. I aim to provide a collaborative space where you can think openly about your practice, develop clinical confidence, navigate ethical dilemmas, complexity and risk, and strengthen your professional identity.
As a bilingual and culturally informed practitioner, I am particularly attentive to culture, power, difference and the wider context in which practitioners work. My aim is to balance support with appropriate challenge, helping supervisees develop thoughtful, ethical and sustainable practice.
Practice description
Supervision with me is collaborative, reflective and tailored to your stage of development. I aim to create a relationship where you feel safe enough to bring uncertainty, mistakes and the thoughts that can feel difficult to say aloud, recognising that these often hold valuable information about ourselves, our clients and the therapeutic relationship.
I balance support with thoughtful challenge. Rather than offering quick answers, I work alongside you with curiosity, exploring not only what is happening for your client, but also your internal process, assumptions and emotional responses. Drawing on relational supervision and the Seven-Eyed Model, we may reflect on the therapeutic relationship, our supervisory relationship and the wider organisational and cultural contexts that shape your work.
Alongside developing clinical skills, I support supervisees to strengthen their professional identity, confidence and ethical decision-making, helping bridge theory and practice in a way that feels thoughtful, grounded and sustainable.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call for us to discuss your supervision needs and what you are hoping to gain from supervision. It also gives us an opportunity to ask questions and consider whether we feel we are a good fit to work together.
Our first supervision session is about getting to know one another and beginning to build a supervisory relationship. We will agree our supervision contract, discuss confidentiality, ethical responsibilities and any organisational or training requirements relevant to your work. There will also be space to explore your previous experiences of supervision, what has supported your learning, and any hopes or concerns you may have about the supervisory process.
From the outset, I encourage openness and curiosity. You are welcome to bring client work, ethical dilemmas, professional challenges or uncertainties. Together, we will begin to understand your way of working, identify your strengths and consider how supervision can best support your ongoing development as a reflective and confident practitioner.
